An assistant motel manager arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of battery and intimidation now faces a felony charge of domestic battery with strangulation.
Britt Andrew Taylor, 50, is being held in Carson City jail with the new charge after an amended report was filed by deputies investigating the Nov. 29 incident.
Officers spoke with the victim late Friday in a followup report. The victim confirmed that her boyfriend lives with her and that she is the manager of the motel in the 1400 block of Rand Avenue. She said Taylor is the assistant manager.
The victim said Taylor battered and choked her using both his hands to the point where she couldn't breath and passed out unconscious. She said he forced his way into the room they shared, threw her outside the room to the ground and began to choke her, the arrest report states. The victim showed and pointed to her neck area, which the officer noted was red where she stated Taylor had his hands and strangled her, the arrest report states.
She further stated she is having a difficult time swallowing from being choked and that she is absolutely sure she was choked to the point where she couldn't breath, according to the arrest report. She told the investigating officer that the only thing she remembers after the attack was waking up in the hospital. Bail: $26,137.
In other felony arrests:
A 25-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Nov. 27 on a felony warrant, suspicion of grand larceny of a motor vehicle and gross misdemeanor tampering with a vehicle.
Ashley Marie McCauley was stopped after crossing Long Street against a traffic signal. The warrants were issued Oct. 23, 2013 out of Dayton Township Court. Bail: $12,500.
— A battery that happened Thanksgiving morning at a casino in the 500 block of North Carson was upgraded to a felony. Armando Junior Mejia, 40, faces a charge of battery with substantial bodily harm after Carson City sheriff's officers interviewed the victim who stated he had received a broken cheek from the fight and would have to have surgery.
According to the arrest report officers were dispatched to Mills Park in reference to a battery that took place earlier at the casino. Dispatch advised the reporting party was following the suspect.
Officers detained Mejia and asked him what happened at the casino. The man stated that he punched another man for talking bad about his kids. A deputy responded to the casino and had the victim respond to the location for identification. The victim identified the man as the one who punched him in the nose and filled out a statement and citizens arrest form.
Mejia was placed into custody for battery, which was upgraded to felony battery with substantial bodily harm, and violation of a suspended sentence. The casino provided surveillance video of the battery from the security office. Bail: $11,137.
— A Carson City man was arrested Friday and faces felony warrant of charges of burglary and being in violation of his probation.
Brandon Andrew Yonkers, 19, was arrested at 4:47 p.m. in the 1700 block of Maison Way by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team. Bench warrants were issued Nov. 13, 2013 out of Carson City First District Court.
— A 24-year-old Carson City man, Robery Phillip Eberly, was booked into jail Friday, Nov. 29, on felony warrant charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and parole and probation violation. The warrant was issued Oct. 21, 2013 out of First District Court in Carson City. Eberly is on a no-bail hold awaiting arraignment.
In misdemeanor related-arrests:
— A 33-year-old Mound House man was arrested Nov. 29, 11:15 p.m. in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East. He faces two misdemeanor charges of failure to appear in traffic court. Bail: $2,628.
— A 26-year-old Washoe Valley man was arrested Nov. 29, 8:12 p.m. at Carson and 10th Street. He faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court. He was stopped after an officer paced him doing 42 mph in a posted 25 mph zone northbound on Carson Street. During a dispatch check it was learned the man had warrants. Bail: $687.
— A 32-year-old Carson City man turned himself in authorities Nov. 29 on a misdemeanor arrest warrant, failure to appear in traffic court issued Nov. 21, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail $215.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
