A 53-year-old man faces a felony charge of failing to register as a sex offender. Robert Allgood was arrested Monday, 1:42 p.m. in the 3300 block of Harrison Lane in Carson City.

According to the arrest report, the Carson City Sheriff's Office received information from the DMV that Allgood was a convicted sex offender out of Oregon who was currently living at the Harrison Lane address. DMV advised that the man attempted to obtain a Nevada identification card by supplying an altered Social Security card, the arrest report states.

Carson City deputies arrived at the residence and requested to speak with the man. He was asked how long he had been living at the residence and he advised that he had been living there since Oct. 9, 2013. Officers explained that as he was a convicted sex offender, he was required to register with the Carson City Sheriff's Office within 48 hours.

While being arrested he told officers he was going to sue for placing him under arrest and requested the arresting deputies present to him "Habeas Corpus," the arrest report states.

The man then advised he wanted to "take the fifth" and then continued to threaten the two officers with legal action, the arrest report states. Officers searched him and located two Oregon driver's licenses, and one altered Social Security card, the arrest report states.
