A Carson City woman was arrested Monday and faces two felony charges of attempted robbery after admitting to authorities that she was the one who handed notes to clerks demanding money at Burger King and 7-Eleven on Nov. 3.
Rhonda Lynnette Belisle, 47, was jailed on $80,000 bail. According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were called to 7-Eleven in the 3700 block of North Carson Street after the suspect from the Nov. 3 attempted robbery had entered the store.
Officers made contact with Belisle near some playground equipment at 20 College Parkway. She told deputies that she had gone to the 7-Eleven to apologize and tell them it was her who went in last week with a hand written note asking for $100 in $20 bills. She told officers that a family member "dared" her to do it, according to the arrest report.
The woman was read her Miranda rights and again told officers that she was dared by a family member to take the note and see if she could get the money. She told officers she went to 7-Eleven, handed the clerk the note and after the clerk did not give it to her she went across the street to Burger King and tried it there, with no success. She said she took the note back and left after she realized what she was doing was wrong.
She described the clothing she was wearing that night as a black jacket, a black hat, sunglasses, black shoes with white trim and blue jeans. The clothing description matches the video surveillance of the suspect from both attempted robberies.
Belisle said the jacket and hat were in her apartment. She signed a consent to search form and walked into her apartment where she showed officers the jacket and hat. She was arrested and taken into custody at 5:07 p.m.
