Carson City arrests: Woman jailed on child abuse charge, admits giving daughter meth

A 47-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony child abuse causing physical harm, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The suspect was taken into custody at 1:35 p.m. in the 1100 block of Tamarisk Street. Carson Now is withholding the name of the woman because of the victim involved.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to Child Protective Services regarding a report of possible child abuse.

The deputy met with the reporting party from CPS who said that on May 27 she was conducting a welfare check on the victim at a North Carson Street motel room. During the check she observed the child moving her jaw in a non-normal manner. The CPS case worker said she removed the child from custody of the parents right then. The age of the victim was not provided in the arrest report.

She took the victim to Carson Tahoe Hospital where she was drug tested. The victim tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana. The CPS case worker said that she questioned the victim about the drug use. The victim said her mother provided it to her, the arrest report states.

The deputy interviewed the victim who completed a written statement. A short while later, the suspect was located at 1116 Tamarisk Street where she was arrested and taken to jail. At jail she was read her Miranda rights and agreed to speak. She told the deputy that she had provided methamphetamine to her daughter on May 26 sometime after 10 p.m. Bail: $40,000.

In other arrests:
— A 36-year-old Minden woman, Rachelle Gail Collins, was booked Wednesday into Carson City Jail on a felony warrant alleging possession of a controlled substance for sale. The warrant was issued Feb. 2, 2016 out of Carson City District Court. She’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 6:11 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Carson Street on misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery and a warrant out of Douglas County.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the parking lot of Kohl’s after multiple calls to dispatch reporting a man punching a female.

Officers arrived and identified the man. He was read his Miranda rights. He told deputies that he did not punch his girlfriend but did slap and “shove her around,” the arrest report states.

The suspect said he what he did because he was “mad,” the arrest states.
Dispatch confirmed the suspect had a warrant out of Douglas County on two counts of battery and minor in possession. Bail: $6,137.

— A 29-year-old man was booked Wednesday into Carson City Jail on a misdemeanor warrant, contempt of court, issued in June 2014. Bail: $500.

— A 38-year-old Reno man was booked into jail Wednesday on misdemeanor warrants for contempt of court and violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $3,500.

— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued in June 2014. Bail: $1,000.

— A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 8:20 p.m. in the 3400 block of Northgate Lane on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant. Bail: $740.
