Carson City sheriff’s log: Woman jailed for child endangerment after drug-fueled party

A 25-year-old Reno woman was arrested Saturday on two gross misdemeanor charges of child endangerment after she told police she and her boyfriend took Ecstasy and hallucinogenic mushrooms and that he flipped out, punching a mirror inside the bedroom where her two children were sleeping, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The woman was arrested Saturday, 11:37 a.m. in the 1600 block of Linda Kay Court. According to the arrest report, officers were called to a home where a man had overdosed on drugs.

Deputies and Carson City Fire Department personnel responded to the home where the man resisted and kicked officers. He was detained and treated for cuts, the arrest report states. Officers spoke with the man’s girlfriend who relayed the following: She arrived at the man’s home Friday night at around 9 p.m. where he had been watching her two children, a girl, 7, and a boy, 3.

She said she acquired drugs in Reno before coming for her visit. She said once the kids went to sleep in the man’s bedroom the two took the drug Ecstasy at around 10 p.m. She told officers she wanted to party like when they were young, the arrest report states. She said they also took hallucinogenic mushrooms after ingesting the Ecstasy.

The woman told deputies the children were asleep the whole time when the two took the drugs. She said the man began to show severe signs of having a negative reaction to the drugs and that he became paranoid and punched the mirror in the bedroom where the kids were and left blood all over the bedroom walls, floor, bathroom, living room and furniture.

The woman was also covered in blood as she tried to comfort the man, the arrest report states. She was arrested for child endangerment and neglect. The children were released to Child Protective Services because the woman could not provide any contacts for family to take care of the children. Bail: $5,000.

In other arrests: A 25-year-old transient was arrested Saturday, 2:40 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street on misdemeanor charges of two counts battery, petit larceny, violation of pretrial supervision and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 24-year-old man with him was charged with misdemeanor assessory to petit larceny.

According to the arrest report, the 25-year-old suspect attempted to leave Walmart with $61.59 in merchandise he didn’t pay for. He was stopped by store loss prevention. Security attempted to escort the man to the office when the man attempted to knee one of the security guards in the groin and then punched another in the face.

Officers arrived and spoke with the man who corroborated what security had said. Items recovered from the man’s pockets included a glass smoking pipe with burnt residue. The man admitted to having smoked morphine and heroin earlier that morning. The man also implicated his friend, the 24-year-old, who drove him to Walmart and waited outside while he was inside shoplifting. Bail: $6,763 for the 25-year-old transient and $352 for the 24-year-old accomplice.

— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 6:40 a.m. in the area of Nevada and Meyer streets on a misdemeanor charge, violation of bail conditions. He was not supposed to be drinking per conditions through Alternative Sentencing. The man had a preliminary breath test with a .175. Bail: $3,000.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 12:04 a.m. in the Goni Pit area on a failure to appear traffic warrant. Bail: $215.

— A 53-year-old man was arrested Saturday, 6 p.m. in the area of South Stewart Street and East 7th street on a misdemeanor domestic battery warrant issued Oct. 2, 2013 out of Yerington Municipal Court. Bail: $3,140.

— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 5:50 a.m. in the 200 block of West Caroline Street on a misdemeanor charge of violation of bail conditions. He had been drinking while on Alternative Sentencing with a condition not to drink. He blew a .140 preliminary breath test. Bail: $3,000.
