Woman arrested for shoplifting found to have three vials of dangerous drugs

A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, Dec. 23 7:10 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Edmonds.
Jordan Randall Burkhart, faces felony warrant charges of failure to appear and parole and probation hold. He is being held without bail on those charges until a court hearing.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to a casino for a report of several unwanted subjects. An officer recognized Burkhart and when he saw the officer he quickly got up and exited the casino.

The officer followed him outside into the parking lot to contact him. The officer asked dispatch for a computer check for wants and warrants. Burkart threw his cigarette and took off running northbound on Brown Street. Dispatch advised the man had a no bail warrant out of Washoe District Court and a priority 5 parole and probation hold.

The officer caught up with Burkart in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 3800 block of Highway 50 east and arrested him for misdemeanor obstructing a peace officer, the felony warrant and parole and probation hold.

In other felony-related arrests:
A 22-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, Dec. 23, 9:18 a.m. in the 2000 block of North Carson Street. Sarah Marie Knight faces a felony charge of suspicion of possession of prescription drugs without a prescription and a misdemeanor charge of larceny.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the Cal Ranch store in reference to a shoplifter in custody. On arrival the officer made contact with security who had placed Knight under citizen's arrest for shoplifting.

According to the report, Knight had come into the store for a while and then left the store passing through all the check stands. As she was leaving the store she set off the theft alarm at the front door. When she was confronted she was found to have in her possession three items from the store that she didn't pay for, the report states.

Store security took Knight to the office and Cal Ranch personnel checked her purse for any other items that might belong to the store. After the officer arrived on the scene it was brought to his attention that Knight was also in possession of controlled substances. Officers found three vials of a controlled substance: two vials of morphine with a small amount of liquid in them and a third vial of Lorzepam with a small amount of liquid in it, the arrest report states.

Cal Ranch asked for a citizen's arrest with charges of petit larceny. Additional charges of possession of a controlled substance without prescriptions were added. She was booked into jail. Bail: $2,750.
