A 40 year-old transient man was arrested Friday evening at 6:25 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Carson Street on two felony counts of burglary, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, including shoplifting burglary and commercial burglary.
Brian Henderson was also booked for felony possession of methampetamine as well as an active felony failure to appear bench warrant for grand larceny issued out of the Carson City District Court.
According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy was first dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of Market Street in reference to petit larceny.
The security officer on site reported having observed a male suspect select multiple items from a store shelf, place them in a shopping cart and attempt to exit the business through a side door, passing all checkout points with merchandise he made no effort to pay for.
Security made contact with Henderson, who became non-compliant, abandoned the shopping cart and walked off, leaving in a Saturn vehicle.
He was later located at another business, this one along South Carson Street, where he was detained after a second burglary call, the report said.
A Sheriff's deputy in the area observed a subject who partially matched Henderson's description walking quickly away from the South Carson Street business. He was stopped and questioned by law enforcement, appearing nervous and uncomfortable.
Henderson was detained on suspicion of having committed a crime based on his behaviors toward the officer.
A loss prevention staff member at the South Carson Street business arrived at the deputy's location and identified Henderson as the suspect who had walked out of the business with knives he did not pay for, the report said.
Upon leaving the store, staff observed Henderson running across Stewart Street and into bushes. Deputies searched that area, locating plastic bins in which were found a jacket and beanie cap that had matched Henderson's description from staff at the Market Street business.
Deputies also recovered 12 knives inside the bins still in their original packaging. Total value of the stolen items was more than $271, the report said.
A suspect vehicle that Henderson was believed to be riding in had been stopped by another Sheriff's deputy. As the arresting deputy approached the stop in his patrol vehicle, with Henderson in the back, the suspect suddenly stated that he did not want his friends to get in trouble for what he did.
Henderson admitted to committing the larceny offense, the report said, and finally identified himself to law enforcement.
The driver of the stopped vehicle was identified and reported to deputies there was a backpack inside belonging to Henderson. He handed the backpack to officers, who searched it and found a small black case containing suspected methamphetamine, a pipe and snorting straws.
The substance tested presumptive positive for meth, the report said.
Henderson admitted the backpack belonged to him, and that the black case did contain meth.
A records check through dispatch showed a previous burglary conviction for Henderson as well as the outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $10,000.

— A 39 year-old transient woman was arrested Friday morning at 7:41 a.m. in the area of South Carson and Seventh streets on two counts misdemeanor trespassing, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy responded to a downtown business, a staff member at which reported a female suspect was inside yelling and screaming at staff. She had also gotten into the face of one staff member, the witness reported.
Four staff members were required to get the suspect to leave the premises, staff witness reported, and she had already been trespassing earlier the evening.
The suspect had since left the premises, the report said, but was located further downtown Carson Street at another business, which had also called in an unwanted subject report on her.
Law enforcement located the suspect, who was observed walking northbound on Carson Street away from deputies. When officers attempted to make contact, the suspect walked out into the middle of Carson Street in an attempt to avoid law enforcement.
She did not watch for traffic when she stepped out onto the street, the report said, and only avoided being struck because law enforcement switched on emergency vehicle lights to stop traffic.
The suspect was then detained, handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $150.
