A 21-year-old Carson City man was booked Monday for suspicion of being in possession of a stolen firearm after being arrested Sunday on drug and weapon charges, a sheriff’s deputy said.

Jacob Andrew Watts, who was in custody already after an April 15, faces the charge after an incident in which he allegedly stole the loaded black Taurus revolver from the victim’s vehicle Saturday as he and another man helped her move into a South Carson Street residence, according to the arrest report.

Watts was arrested Sunday at 11:30 p.m. for suspicion of, among other things, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, according to the booking report. The revolver, which had not been reported stolen until Monday, was found in Watts’ possession at the time of the Sunday arrest.

A deputy met with Watts for a followup interview and read him his Miranda rights. He told the officer he did not take the firearm, which was in a holster, when he helped the victim move.

He told the deputy some friends picked him up and had the gun. He said he put the holster on his hip with the gun so he could return it to the victim because he knew it was hers, the arrest report states.

From the arrest earlier, he also faces charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and the following misdemeanors: possession of drug paraphernalia, and two contempt of court warrants issued Feb. 15, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Total bail listed: $49,500.

In other arrests:
— A 33-year-old Kelseyville, Calif., man, Jonathon Louis Waters, was arrested for a felony fugitive from justice warrant issued Jan. 26, 2018 out of a California Superior Court in Lake County. He’s being held without bail awaiting extradition.

— A 44-year-old woman was arrested Monday, 11:15 a.m. for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, a sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatch to a residence at Catalpa Way in reference to a report of a domestic battery.

The couple were arguing over divorce papers. The victim said he wanted his wife to sign an agreement regarding the divorce. The woman became angry and would not sign the papers, according to the report. The victim stated he was going to call the suspect’s mother. The woman then allegedly punched the man on the right side of the face with a closed fist. The investigating deputy noticed a red mark under the victim’s right eye.

The suspect stated her husband wanted her to sign some paperwork regarding the divorce. She stated when he threatened to call her mother, she became angry and slapped the man in the face one time. She was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
