Carson City arrests: Man jailed for possession of 49 grams of cocaine

A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for allegedly being in possession of 49 grams of cocaine and also faces two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Jaskirat Sign Dhami was taken into custody at 10:37 p.m. According to the arrest report, deputies were called in reference to a large amount of suspected drugs being brought into a Manhattan Drive home.

Upon arrival a deputy made contact with the victim at the front door of the residence and was advised he was pushed by the suspect, sustaining an injury to his leg. He denied medical treatment. The deputy was also advised the suspect allegedly pulled another victim’s hair.

A deputy made contact and detained the suspect, reading him his Miranda warning and asked if he wanted to speak about the incident. The man advised he did not wish to speak and no further questions were asked.

Deputies tested the suspected cocaine, which returned positive with a weight of 49 grams. The man was arrested for suspicion of possession of cocaine and two counts misdemeanor domestic battery. Bail: $206,274.

In other arrests:
— A 23-year-old Carson City woman was booked into Carson City Jail on Monday, 8:45 a.m. for a felony warrant alleging dissuading a witness, and a misdemeanor battery warrant. Both warrants were issued out of Carson City Justice Court on May 9. Bail: $10,000 bondable.

— A 25-year-old Long Beach, Calif., man was booked into Carson City Jail on Monday, 5 p.m. for a felony violation of parole warrant.
According to the arrest report, Christian Godinez-Zuniga will be returned to the custody of the Nevada Department of Corrections.

— A 44-year-old Orangevale, Calif., man, Robert Lee Rinks, was booked into Carson City Jail on Monday for a felony parole and probation violation warrant issued Jan. 22, 2018 out of Carson City District Court. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— a 20-year-old Carson City man, Jesse Boyd Shoub, was arrested Monday, 1:36 p.m. in the area of 20 College Parkway for a felony fugitive from justice warrant issued April 4, 2018 out of Alabama, Houston County District Court. Bail: $15,000.

— A 40-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman was booked into jail Monday, 2:10 p.m. for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued March 20, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 28-year-old Gardnerville woman was booked into jail Monday, 2:25 p.m. for a failure to appear in traffic court warrant issued April 6, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,595.

— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 11:29 p.m. at North Carson and Bath Street for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued May 11 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man, Alexander Sandoval, was arrested Sunday, 7:44 p.m. in the area of Second Street and Allouette Way for felony suspicion of possession of MDMA, a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to maintain a travel lane.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City sheriff’s sergeant made a traffic stop on a vehicle after it failed to maintain its travel lane, nearly hitting the sergeant’s patrol vehicle head-on while going north on Harbin Avenue.

The officer made contact with the driver and could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and suspected the man may be under the influence. Sandoval was asked if he would participate in field sobriety tests and he agreed. He also gave a deputy verbal consent to search his backpack, the arrest report states.

The suspect did not exhibit any signs of impairment during the standardized field sobriety tests. Officers located a clear pill in which Sandoval told the deputy contained MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy. It weighed 0.2 grams. Deputies also found a white and green “whip it” device commonly used for huffing substances. Bail: $3,749.

— A 36-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 2:27 a.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor violation of bail conditions.
According to the arrest report, the woman was in a casino past a curfew that had been established as part of her bail conditions through alternative sentencing. Bail: $3,000.

— An 18-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested Saturday, 2:09 a.m. in the area of Highway 50 East and Russell Way for misdemeanor DUI, driving on a suspended license, minor consuming alcohol and failure to maintain a lane of traffic. An 18-year-old Carson City woman was also arrest for minor consuming alcohol.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle after he observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane.

The man showed signs of drinking. He was asked if he had been drinking and he stated no. The officer explained that he showed signs of drinking. The man replied he had five or six beers while in South Lake Tahoe prior to driving his friend home.

He agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .135 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI and the other charges. Bail: $2,103.

— A 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 5:12 p.m. in the area of Ediza Circle for misdemeanor suspicion of battery and probation violation.

According to the arrest report the woman allegedly struck her neighbor on the head and smacked him in the face following an argument about a dog in which the man was attempting to escort the woman off of his property. The victim provided the arresting deputy video surveillance of the incident, which was what he described, the report states.

The deputy met with the woman who was intoxicated. She was on probation with a “no alcohol” clause. She submitted a preliminary breath sample of .179 and was arrested for probation violation and suspicion of battery. Bail: $4,137.

— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 12:12 p.m. in the 2300 block of Fieldcrest for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery and a juvenile probation hold. According to the arrest report, the man had an argument with his mother and pushed her.

The suspect’s brother then intervened and was punched and hit by the suspect. The victim had the suspect pinned to the ground by the time deputies arrived.

He said he pinned his brother so that he wouldn’t go after their mother. The victim had scratches on his neck, chest, stomach and right hand. Bail: $3,137.
