Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Man arrested for stalking ex-girlfriend

A 54 year-old Carson City man was taken into custody Friday afternoon at 3:18 p.m. in the 2200 block of Poole Way for misdemeanor stalking after his ex-girlfriend signed a citizen's arrest form, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, arrived at the Carson City Sheriff's Office Friday morning to file a complaint. She met with a deputy, explaining that her ex-boyfriend was stalking her following a break-up and fight that resulted in him leaving her residence.

The victim reported she has now become increasingly nervous and is uncomfortable being went out in public, the report said, too scared to go places she regularly frequents after a number of incidents in which the suspect showed up unexpectedly or made unwanted contact with her.

The first incident occurred about a month ago, the victim reported, as she was walking and playing with her dog in a public place. The victim reported that she saw the suspect standing in the bushes away from her, but waving in her direction.

The victim said she later received a telephone call from a number she did not recognize, and the suspect was on the other line. A witness also spotted the suspect pacing back and forth in front of a downtown establishment when the victim was inside, the report said.

During another encounter, the suspect approached the victim at a restaurant and tapped her on the shoulder. He was also seen by wait staff standing in the hallway by the bathrooms staring out at the victim, the report said.

A few days before filing the complaint, the victim said she made eye contact with the suspect in a public plaza upon exiting an establishment, then went back inside and found an alternate exit.

Then the day before the victim signed the citizen's arrest form, she reported leaving an establishment and found a note on the windshield of her car, asking her, "Will you please talk to me for five minutes?"

Upon taking the report from the victim and obtaining the citizen's arrest form, a Sheriff's deputy made contact with the suspect at his residence and placed him in handcuffs. He was transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $250.

In other arrests:

— A 36 year-old Dayton woman was arrested Friday evening at 6:10 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Carson Street for felony methamphetamine possession, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, as well as for misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession and a Carson City Department of Alternative Sentencing (DAS) violation.

Jodi Lynn Miller was taken into custody after she was observed by a Sheriff's deputy entering a gaming establishment. She was recognized through multiple prior contacts with law enforcement.

According to the arrest report, Miller also had a confirmed, active bench warrant issued by the Carson City Justice Court for violation of a suspended sentence. The deputy made contact with Miller and detained her in handcuffs due to the outstanding arrest warrant.

Miller told the deputy that she had a meth pipe and a baggie with meth in it inside of her bra. Those items were recovered during the intake process at the Carson City Jail, where Miller was booked. Bail: $3,000.

— A 23 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night at 7:44 p.m. in the area of South Carson Street and Fairview Drive for driving with a revoked license, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported. The suspect was also driving with an unrestrained small child in the car.

According to the arrest report, a traffic stop was made on the suspect's vehicle for non-reflective, blacked out tail lights. A Sheriff's deputy made contact with the driver, who said he did not have a driver's license. A small child was observed in the back seat of the vehicle, not in a car seat and without a seat belt on.

Carson City Dispatch confirmed the suspect's driver's license was revoked for a DUI in 2016. He also had two previous failure to appear warrants issued against him for prior traffic citations, the report said.

The suspect was then handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $500.

— A 34 year-old man was arrested late Friday night at 10:23 p.m. in the area of Como Street and Carson Meadows Drive for a pair of active bench warrants, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, including one for felony possession of a controlled substance and a second for misdemeanor contempt of court.

According to the arrest report, Bernabe Rivas was taken into custody following a traffic stop. Rivas was observed as a passenger in the vehicle and recognized by the Sheriff's deputy from previous contacts with law enforcement.

Arrest warrants against Rivas were confirmed through records check. The felony warrant was issued out of Carson City District Court, while the misdemeanor warrant was issued by the Carson City Justice Court.

Rivas was handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. No bail hold by the Carson City District Court.

— A 21 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night at 9:19 p.m. in the 2700 block of Menlo Drive for a misdemeanor DAS probation violatiion issued by the Carson City Justice Court, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, two male subjects were stopped and questioned while walking out of an apartment complex. The subjects identified themselves, and one had a confirmed bench warrant verified by Carson City Dispatch.

He was handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $3,000.

— A 32 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night at 9:09 p.m. at the Carson City Jail for misdemeanor violation of bail conditions through DAS, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, the man is currently an inmate at the Carson City Jail. His ex-girlfriend reported that the suspect violated a protection order against him by contacting her multiple times Friday afternoon using the inmate telephone system.

She reported that she did answer the phone during one call, but she still did not want contact with the suspect.

While Carson City Dispatch was unable to confirm a protection order, it did verify the suspect was not to have contact with his ex-girlfriend as part of bail conditions established by DAS, the report said.

Telephone records from the inmate phone system were reviewed and four calls were confirmed made to the victim's phone number. One telephone conversation between the two was also verified.

DAS advised of the violation and requested the charge be added to the inmate's booking. Bail: $3,000.

— A 40 year-old Carson City man was arrested in the Frontier Plaza parking lot, 1900 block of North Carson Street, Friday night at 7:08 p.m. on two counts of misdemeanor DAS violations, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy responded to the area on report of an unruly and intoxicated male subject refusing to leave the premises of a business.

The subject was located and contacted by the deputy, who could smell alcohol on his breath. The suspect reported having consumed alcohol. A partial preliminary breath test (PBT) was consented to, yielding .100 percent breath-alcohol content (BAC).

During records check through Carson City Dispatch, the suspect was confirmed to be active in DAS with a no-alcohol clause. DAS advised the suspect was in violation and requested his arrest.

He was handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.

— A 40 year-old transient man was arrested Friday afternoon at 3:27 p.m. in the area of Hot Springs Road and Sage Street on an outstanding misdemeanor failure to appear warrant, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy patrolling the area observed the male suspect and recognized him from previous law enforcement contacts.

A records check through Carson City Dispatch confirmed the bench warrant issued by the Carson City Justice Court, the report said.

Upon making contact with the suspect, the deputy detained and handcuffed the suspect, transporting him to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: Book and release.
