Sheriff's deputies arrested a 25-year-old Carson City man whose alleged use of fireworks started a brush fire in Brunswick Canyon Saturday night.
According to the arrest report, a deputy responding to the scene of the fire found a truck with six subjects in it, along with numerous fireworks. The driver, Jay Summerville, allegedly told deputies that one of the fireworks had gone across the Carson River and started a fire in a bush.
By the time, the fire had already burned 15 acres and was growing. Fire units from Carson City, Lyon County, Douglas County, Storey County, North Lake Tahoe, BLM and Nevada Division of Forestry responded to put the blaze out.
Summerville was arrested for felony destruction of vegetation by fire caused by gross negligence, misdemeanor failure to guard or extinguish a fire, and misdemeanor possession of fireworks. His bail was set at $15,000.
