A Carson City man faces a felony domestic battery charge after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and later told authorities it was her fault that he did it.

Joshua Dean Harrah, 23, is being held on $5,000 bail after being arrested on Sunday at 12:20 in the afternoon in north Carson City.

Officers were dispatched to 20 College Parkway after a report that a woman had been hit in the nose, suffering a fracture. The suspect, Harrah, had left the scene after the incident.

A deputy arrived to find the victim, who said she was the suspect's girlfriend, at the intersection of Northgate and College Parkway. Her nose was bloody and the bridge swollen, according to the arrest report.

The woman told the officer that she and Harrah had a fight after she confronted him about doing drugs. After the woman told the suspect that she was going to leave him because of his drug use, he threatened to hit her.

She said she didn't believe him, told him so, and with that, he hit her in the face, according to the arrest report. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

After hitting his girlfriend, Harrah then left the home, taking with him the victim's purse. Later, he phoned a relative of the victim, asking that she pick him up at the intersection of Gardengate just west of Northgate. The relative contacted authorities, and deputies followed the relative to the location. Harrah was taken into custody without incident.

He then told authorities afterward that that it was his girlfriend's fault that he hit her, adding that he only hit her once, according to the arrest report.
