Carson City man faces felony charge after choking, beating woman

A Carson City man faces a felony charge of domestic battery with strangulation after allegedly slamming a woman's head into a hard wood floor and choking her.

Randal Dean Arnold, 43, was arrested Dec. 10 in the 3800 block of Highway 50 at 9:09 p.m. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Bliss Court for a report of a domestic battery in progress.

Dispatch advised that the male suspect, identified as Arnold, had just left the home and was walking toward a casino. Other deputies in the area located him and he was detained, the arrest report states.

Officers then made contact with the victim who said that Arnold was jealous and intoxicated and began hitting, choking and slamming her head into a hard wood floor and throwing her around the home, the arrest report states.

The woman said this behavior started earlier in the day and she was able to get Arnold to leave the home, however he returned and it continued and became more severe. The woman had bumps on her head, marks on her neck and bruises on her left arm, the arrest report states.

The woman said she was able to escape and run to the neighbors house who in turn called 911 for her. Arnold was arrested and charged felony domestic battery with strangulation and taken to jail. A preliminary breath test was made where he blew a .130, the arrest report states.

He was being held in Carson City Jail on $15,000 bail.

In other arrests:

A Carson City carpenter faces a felony drug charge. Brandon Peart, 31, was arrested in the 2000 block of Evergreen, Dec. 10 at 9:33 a.m.

According to the arrest report officers were patrolling the area and observed a smokey gray Toyota Tundra and occupied by Peart who was sleeping in the front seat. Officers note that there was a report of a suspicious truck in the area of Evergreen and Ormsby that matched the description, the arrest report states.

An officer woke the man up and asked him to step out of the vehicle and talk. When the man opened the door officers observed in plain view on the driver floorboard a hypodermic device. The officer also observed two pills in cigarette cellophane, on the center console, the arrest report states.

The man was detained and placed in handcuffs and read his Miranda Rights. He agreed and said he understood his rights and agreed to speak with the officer. He was asked about the pills in the cellophane, the arrest report states.

The man told the officer they were muscle relaxers, Soma. He admitted he uses drugs and said the hypodermic device was his. The pills were later identified as Carisoprodol, 350 mg, a schedule 4 drug. Peart was charged with possession of dangerous drugs without prescription and possession of a hypodermic device. Bail was set at $2,500, the arrest report states.

— A 50-year-old Carson City man was arrested Dec. 10 at the Carson City Detenion Facility on a misdemeanor warrant. The man turned himself into authorities at 7:30 p.m. stating he believed he had a warrant issued from Carson City.

— A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Dec. 10, 6:15 p.m. after being transported by Lyon County Sheriff's Office on a Carson City Justice Court warrant and a Churchill County warrant.

— Those arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
