Authorities arrest Carson City man after allegedly stealing laptops

A 66-year-old Carson City man who was recently fired from his computer job, was arrested on Wednesday after he was seen on video surveillance taking laptop computers from his former employer.

Robert Eugene Miller is being held on $25,000 bail.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to Computer Corp in the 6000 block of Highway 50 in reference to a report of a past burglary.

Officer spoke with an employee who said that laptop computers, valued at $1,100, were missing from inside the business on Tuesday.

After reviewing the security video, the employee witnessed the theft on Monday, beginning at 2:37 p.m. Miller, who was dismissed for theft a week prior, was observed entering the business, selecting and removing laptop computers and placing them into bags. Between 2:37 p.m. and 4:59 p.m. Miller could was observed on surveillance video, according to the arrest report.

The employee said that during the termination of Miller he was advised never to return to the property. The employee positively identified him as the man entering the business and stealing the computers.

An officer observed Miller on the video and he responded to Miller's last known address, in the 4100 block of Golden Eagle Lane in Carson City. Miller was sitting on the porch of the home at the time an officer arrived and walked out to the entrance gate of the property to meet with the officer. He was arrested and taken into custody and faces a charge of felony burglary.
