A Carson City man was arrested and faces a felony burglary charge after a brief foot chase through a field where he was taken into custody. Edmund Adam Tyree, 25, is being held in the Carson City Jail with a bail of $20,566.

According to the arrest report, Deputy Bob Guimont was dispatched to the area of Highway 50 East and Sherman Tuesday around 4 p.m. in reference to a man who had been attempting to open doors to vehicles and homes.

Dispatch advised the suspect was running from the scene and that a witness with a shovel in his hand was chasing Tyree. Deputy Guimont located the man running, activated his lights and then exited the patrol car to chase him. Guimont ordered the man to stop but the man continued to run through an open field. During the chase Tyree was carrying a white plastic bag that had powder dripping from it, according to the arrest report.

A Tri-Net Narcotic Task Force officer and member of the Carson City Sheriff's Office, Deputy Stetler, also joined in the pursuit and closed in on Tyree where he was forced to the ground and cuffed, the arrest report states.

Guimont then made contact with a witness who stated that Tyree had allegedly attempted to open the front door of a home on Garson Court. The witness said the man's actions appeared strange so he began to follow him on foot.

The witness said he followed Tyree to Panamint Road where he observed him enter a vehicle parked in the driveway. The witness said he confronted Tyree who told him the vehicle belonged to his girlfriend. (The owner of the vehicle later informed deputies that change was missing from the ashtray.)

Tyree then turned and began to run. The witness chased the man into a parking lot of an auto body repair shop. The witness said Tyree opened the service door on the west side of the shop, looked at him and said "watch me disappear, bitch," according to the arrest report.

The witness chased Tyree through the auto body shop and then outside and that is when Deputy Guimont caught up with him and began to chase him through the field.

Tyree faces a felony charge of burglary and misdemeanor charges of obstruction, resisting arrest, drunken pedestrian, and jaywalking.
