
A California teenager learned on Monday that a prescription for medical marijuana in her home state isn't legal in Nevada, and neither is possession of Oxycondone without a prescription, or carrying a fake ID.
Michalela Arrieta Nave, 18, was arrested near Chimney Beach at Lake Tahoe Monday afternoon for felony possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, and misdemeanor possession of less than ounce of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a fake ID.
Deputies patrolling the Chimney Beach area approached a group of young people drinking beer who they suspected of being minors. According the arrest report, deputies detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from Nave. She said she had a medical marijuana card from California, along with some marijuana in her her purse. A deputy also found half a tablet of Oxycodone and a fake ID from Florida in her wallet.
Bail was set for 4,711.
