Carson City authorities make several alcohol-related arrests over weekend

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies made several arrests this weekend, several for alcohol, drugs and battery-related offenses. Two of the arrests were were for felony DUI in which the drivers had two prior DUI convictions.

A Sparks woman was arrested Saturday, May 4 and faces a felony DUI charge. Jessica Megan Leann Cain, age not provided, was arrested in the area of Spooner Junction at 5:40 a.m.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the location on Spooner, about 1.5 miles west of Tahoe Golf Club Drive and met with Cain, who told officers that the "spokes came off the wheel" of her vehicle causing an accident. She at first said she didn't hit anything, then she said she hit an unknown object in the roadway, the arrest report states.

The driver's side front tire had separated completely from the vehicle and debris in the roadway showed the vehicle struck the median and then continued to drive down the road until the wheel separated from the vehicle, the arrest report states.

The Nevada Highway Patrol conducted the accident investigation and spoke with the woman on a video recording. Cain again said she was the driving the vehicle when the wheel fell off. She said she did not know she struck the median and said she had no driver's license, which showed to have a revoked status, the arrest report states.

Cain admitted to drinking two glass of Jack Daniels at around 9 p.m. and said she had a prescription for Percocet and and taken a dose at around midnight, but earlier stated she had taken it at around 5 p.m., the arrest report states.

She submitted to field sobriety tests which indicated impairment as well as a preliminary breath test at 5:35 a.m. which was higher than .08, the arrest report states.

A criminal history shows two prior convictions for DUI. Blood draws were taken at the jail. During the intake search at the jail, a deputy found 3 white pills in the woman's front pocket, identified as Acetaminophen/Oxycodone Hydrochloride and Cyclobenzaprine. Bail: $23,137.

— A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested and faces a felony DUI charge.
Walter Earl Day was arrested in the 400 block of South Saliman. Officers stopped the vehicle Day was driving at approximately 12:37 a.m. because a headlamp was out, according to the arrest report.
The man informed the officer that he had a beer at a casino. He took a series of field sobriety tests in which he showed signs of impairment, the arrest report states. He was arrested for suspicion of third DUI, a felony. Bail: $20,000.

— A 57-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Gibson Street and faces a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
Michael Truitt is being held on $20,000 bail. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the area of Gibson Street looking Truitt, who was wanted for the felony. He was found at the Focus House and arrested.

— A 41-year-old Sun Valley man was arrested in the 3200 block of Market Street May 3 and faces a felony burglary charge.
Casey Lug Leavitt admitted to taking black sealer shoes from Walmart, according to the arrest report. He was stopped at the intersection of North Roop and College Parkway after Walmart security said the man took items from the store shelf without attempting to pay for the items. Bail: $20,000.

— A 36-year-old transient was arrested in the 400 block of North Carson Street on a felony probation violation warrant. Michael Palomo was arrested May 5, 10:32 p.m.
A reporting party who knew Palomo said he was inside a casino. Palomo had several confirmed warrants out of Carson City Justice Court and a Felony Parole and Probation warrant. He was arrested on other charges including contempt of court, possession of stolen property less than $250 and gross misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.

— A 51-year-old Carson City man was jailed May 4, 11:05 p.m. and faces a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and four other misdemeanor charges.
Roger Michael Bickel, was stopped after officers saw that he didn't use a turn signal and was paced doing between 85 to 90 mph on the Carson City Freeway. Officers patted down the man and found a cylinder that contained methamphetamine. Officers asked the man what it was and the man replied "s**t." The officer replied "s**t?" and the man said: "Yeah. S**t!" the arrest report states. Also recovered was a small amount of marijuana in a tin located in a shirt pocket. Bail: $4,968.

In misdemeanor-related arrests:

Two brothers, 26, and 31, were jailed and face misdemeanor battery charges after a fight outside a bar in the 100 block of Rice Street May 4 at around 11:30 p.m.. According to the arrest report, a 31-year-old man shook the hands of another man and thought the handshake was too long and so he punched him, according to the arrest report.

The man then punched an elderly man in the face. The elderly man's son, who attempted to stop the 31-year-old man, was also punched in the face. The female bartender attempted to stop the fight and she was punched in the face. The two men got into a car and attempted to leave, striking another vehicle.

That resulted in another fight in which the driver of the car that was hit was bitten on the chest and punched in the groin area, according to the arrest report. During the arrest, the 31-year-old suspect told authorities he was seeing double vision and that his back hurt. He was taken to the hospital for observation and told staff that he had been jumped, according to the arrest report.

Bail for the 26-year-old, who lives in Dayton: $1,137; Bail for the 31-year-old, of Carson City, who also had a failure to appear traffic warrant, is $2,783.

— A 19-year-old Carson City woman was arrested May 5, 12:06 p.m. in the 1600 block of Myles Way and faces a domestic battery charge. According to the arrest report, the 19-year-old assaulted her brother who told authorities he threw his sister's iPod on top of the neighbor's roof while she was in the shower.

The woman chased her brother and then punched him numerous times in the right arm and shoulder area, the arrest report states. Two other sisters also told authorities they saw their sister throw their brother to the ground, punching him while he was on the floor. Officers noted red marks on the male's upper arm and shoulder area. Bail: $3,137.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 300 block of East William on May 3, 10:51 p.m. for being in violation of a suspended sentence. Officers observed the man punch another man in the chest outside a bar. The man who was punched did not want to press charges. The 38-year-old man had been through Alternative Sentencing and had a "no violence" and "no alcohol" clause as conditions of sentencing. A preliminary breath test showed he was intoxicated. Bail: $1,000.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested May 4, 2:29 a.m. at 5th and Alloutte and faces a misdemeanor charge of being in violation of probation. Officers responded to the area in reference of a noise complaint. Officers stopped two males on bicycles in the area, one being the 24-year-old man who had, as per conditions of Alternative Sentencing, a no alcohol clause. He submitted to a preliminary breath test which indicated a .049. Bail: $3,000.

— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 900 block of East 5th Street, May 3, 12:45 a.m. and faces a charge of being in violation of a suspended sentence, failure to complete substance abuse counseling. Bail $1,000.

— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1600 block of Molly Drive May 3, 8:10 p.m. and faces a misdemeanor charge of DUI drugs and failure to maintain a single lane. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the 1800 block of Spooner Drive. A vehicle, driven by the 45-year-old crashed into a parked car and ran over a fence and into a yard. The man told authorities he was drunk and wanted to go to jail.

While performing field sobriety tests he informed officers that he was taking several prescription medications but did not know the names of them and could not complete the field sobriety tests. He agreed to submit to a preliminary breath test which showed a .283. Bail: $1,214.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Mills Park on May 3, 3 p.m. and faces a charge of contempt of court. According to the police report, officers observed a Jeep Cherokee swerve to the side of the road.

A woman got out and walked up to patrol officers saying she was in a domestic argument with her husband. Officers interviewed the man who called the woman names, yelling that he was a hardcore gangster from Brooklyn, the arrest report states. Dispatch advised the man had a confirmed Carson City Justice Court warrant for his arrested for failure to provide community service. Bail: $676.

— A 31-year-old Carson City woman was arrested May 4, 12:15 a.m. in the 3000 block of Gordonia. She had a misdemeanor domestic battery warrant for her arrest. Bail: $3,000.

— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested May 5, 10:45 p.m., after turning himself into Carson City authorities on a failure to appear traffic warrant. Bail $999.

— Those arrested and facing charges are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
