A Carson City man faces felony fraud charges after he was arrested for allegedly attempting to cash counterfeit checks at a casino on Wednesday.
Donald Paul Jackson Jr., 27, is being held in Carson City Jail on $27,500 bail. According the arrest report, officers were called to a casino in the 3800 block of Highway 50 East in reference to a suspicious subject attempting to cash counterfeit checks.
Officers made contact with Jackson, a project engineer, at the cashier's cage at about 6:30 p.m. He was checked for warrants and three outstanding failure to appear warrants had been issued out of Reno, Argenta, and Elko township courts. Jackson was cuffed and transported to jail, according to the arrest report.
Contact was then made with the cage cashier who stated that at about 6:10 p.m. Jackson attempted to cash a Washoe Tribe check in the amount of $1,789.82. The cashier stated she was alerted not to cash any checks from Washoe Tribe and from Donald Jackson. The cashier called security and security called the Sheriff's Office, the arrest report stated.
Officers then spoke with the casino cage manager who stated that Washoe Tribal police had made contact with him earlier and advised that checks cashed by Jackson were counterfeit. The checks were endorsed and thumb prints were on them. Carson City authorities took custody of the checks including the one Jackson had allegedly attempted to cash, according to the arrest report.
While at the jail, a Washoe tribal police officer advised Carson City authorities that the checks being held by officers were counterfeit and that they were working a case against Jackson involving the Washoe Tribe bank account, according to the arrest report.
Jackson faces charges of the following: Obtaining money under false pretenses, a felony; uttering forged instruments, a felony and three misdemeanor failure to appear warrants, according to the arrest report.
