Carson City man faces felony drug possession charge

A Carson City man who told authorities he was hanging out in the bushes behind the old K-Mart because there was a box of clothes he was going through, was arrested on drug charges.
Kermit Kincheloe, 49, faces a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor charge of drug paraphernalia, according to Carson City deputies.
The arrest happened after officers responded to a call on Sunday of a suspicious vehicle behind the Old Kmart at 3456 North Carson Street. A Carson City sergeant observed that he was in the area and saw the suspect walking around in the bushes near the West wall of the property.

The sergeant advised the arresting officer that there was a locked chest with a latch pried off where he saw the suspect. The arresting officer asked the suspect what he was doing in the bushes. The suspect told the officer that "some guy" told him there was brand new socks, underwear and shirts in a box behind the K-Mart. The suspect said he was in the bushes to retrieve them.
When the officer asked him where the goods were, the man said they were in his back pack. The officer asked if he could search the back pack. The man agreed, according to the arrest report. Inside the officer found tools, new socks, underwear, T-shirts, a bb gun and a big knife.
Also in the back pack was a small silver container that was threaded at the top. The officer unscrewed the top, shined his flashlight inside of it and saw a white crystal substance that resembled methamphetamine, which, subsequently, tested positive in a NIK test, according to the arrest report.
The suspect was placed into custody. The officer asked him if there were any other drugs in his possession. The man replied 'no' and was taken to jail. At the sally port entering the jail the suspect then told the officer: "I may have a baggy in my sock." The baggy was recovered, and tested positive for methamphetamine.
The man was released to jail staff. His bail was set at $3,632.
