A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Tuesday on suspicion of unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, a gross misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

Officers were notified that a vehicle in the possession of the woman had not been returned after she was given permission, earlier, to use it. The vehicle was then reported stolen. Officers located the vehicle in the 200 block of W. Caroline Street and observed the suspect inside.

A Carson City sheriff's deputy detained the woman and advised of her Miranda rights. The woman agreed to speak and deputies contacted the registered owner of the vehicle.

The owner of the vehicle arrived and was asked to inspect it for any damage. The owner stated she did not observe any new damage to the vehicle. She stated a brown purse on the front passenger seat was not hers and observed the suspect carrying it earlier in the day, the arrest report states.

The deputy collected the purse for booking. The officer asked the suspect if the purse was hers and she originally stated it wasn't. The officer then located a purple zip bag in the purse, with several items of drug paraphernalia inside, including several hypodermic needles.

The officer asked the suspect if she had any medical condition that required use of hypodermic needles. The woman stated no and that she uses needles "to shoot up methamphetamine," the arrest report states. She was arrested at 12:50 a.m. Bail: $3,637.

Carson City sheriff's officers patrolling stopped a vehicle because it had a registration with a status of suspended, the arrest report states.

The officer met with Dixon and explained the reason for the traffic stop. The man told the officer he was aware there was an insurance problem. The officer asked why he did not have a Nevada driver's license. Dixon said he had been here for four days and that he has not had time to change it.

A warrant check was done on the man, where it was advised he had a felony warrant through the state of Oregon for parole violation on a sex offense. Dispatch contacted the agency and advised they would extradite after Monday, May 19. Dixon was shown to be a convicted sex offender. A friend who was with Dixon confirmed he had been staying with her over the past four days. Bail: $5,112.

Knight stated he was 19 and said he was recently released from prison and was on parole and didn't want to go back to prison.
