Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested William Taylor Payne, 21, a student from Cordova, Tenn., just after midnight this morning near a south Carson Street convenience store. Payne was arrested on allegations of felony possession of marijuana (more than an ounce), felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell, misdemeanor speeding, and misdemeanor open container. The arresting officer discovered within Payne's vehicle a large red duffel bag, which contained just over 16 pounds of marijuana. Bail is set at $10,000.

Deputies arrested Kenneth Paul Carlson, 51, at around 7 a.m. Monday at the 200 block of Jeanell Drive. Carlson was arrested for allegations of felony burglary and misdemeanor obstructing an officer. He allegedly broke into a church, and then when sighted by officers, began running. Bail is set at $25,000.
