
Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Kirkland Wayne Abel, 40, an HVAC installer from Carson City, at about 4:30 this morning at the 900 block of East Fifth Street. Abel was arrested for felony allegations of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamines), as well as two misdemeanor allegations of possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. Abel allegedly got into an argument with his wife when he discovered that his thermostat had been changed from 65 degrees to 66 degrees. Bail is set at $5,100 plus administrative fees.
Deputies also made several misdemeanor arrests Tuesday and Wednesday, including:
- A 54-year-old Minden woman at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of East Washington and North Carson streets for failure to maintain a single lane and DUI first offense.
- A 34-year-old Carson City maintenance man at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for contempt of court.
- A 26-year-old recycling man from Carson City at 10 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of Stewart and Adams streets for two warrants in his name (contempt of court, failure to appear).
- A 19-year-old Carson City woman at 4 a.m. Wednesday for minor consumption and violation of bail conditions.
- A 26-year-old Carson City man at 7 p.m. Wednesday for an alternative sentence violation warrant in his name.
- A 21-year-old Carson City woman at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday near the corner of 395 and Fairview Drive, for a failure to appear warrant in her name.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
