A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation after allegedly grabbing his girlfriend by the throat, holding her to the point where the woman thought she was going to die, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office.
Arnold Flores-Estrada was arrested at 4:35 p.m. in the 3300 block of South Carson Street with bail set at $15,352.
According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy responded to a residence after a report of a domestic dispute. The officer found the battery victim who let him inside the residence, which was littered with clothing, dresser drawers and multiple broken items on the floor.
The victim told the deputy that she feared for her safety and put a dresser in front of the door while she began to pack her stuff to leave. Flores-Estrada allegedly tore through the door and began to attack the woman, the arrest report states.
Flores-Estrada told the deputy that he did nothing wrong, that he should leave and that "it's OK I'm going to be a cop too," according to the arrest report. The man then repeatedly ignored the officer's direction to step away and was detained. Two pocket knives were found in his pockets, according to the arrest report.
The man said he confronted the woman about an old note from an ex-boyfriend he found in her stuff and that what happened was justified, telling the officer "come on, you know how women get," the arrest report states.
The woman stated Flores-Estrada confronted her at work about the note, causing a scene and then driving away. The woman confirmed the note was old and written before she and Flores-Estrada were in a relationship, the arrest report states.
The man then continued to tell the arresting deputy that he was going to become a cop and to ignore what happened in the apartment and to let him go, the arrest report states.
Flores-Estrada told the officer the victim had been going crazy and so he grabbed her and took her to the ground to calm her down. He denied choking the woman and said the marks were from holding her down by her neck and throat, not actually strangling her. During transport to jail, the man told the deputy that he would get out of the current charges if the woman would change her story for him, the arrest report states.
The woman told the officer the man had a shotgun in the house and that it should be confiscated because she feared what would happen when the man got out of jail.
She mentioned he had several guns locked away in storage on Fairview and that he would brag that one of the guns is machine-gun like and illegal, a handgun with a large magazine. The officer advised that the suspect is under 21 years of age and was not old enough to purchase or be in possession of any handguns.
Officers spoke with the Flores-Estrada at jail who said he was studying Criminal Justice and psychology in school and that he was not going to provide any information that would get him into more trouble, the arrest report states.
The man's father confirmed there were guns inside the storage unit that belonged to his friend. Keys for the storage unit were retrieved, but the storage company was closed at the time the arrest report was filed.
