A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday and is being held without bail on suspicion of distributing and possessing child pornography.
Andrew Wayne Hamrick, a locksmith who lives in the 2800 block of Longridge Drive, was arrested at 9:23 a.m. by Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies. The FBI is also investigating.
According to the arrest report, deputies were attempting to locate a suspect vehicle from a FBI bulletin regarding Hamrick, who has a felony warrant.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office received information that Hemrick was driving into Carson City from Dayton at about 10 a.m. Monday.
Deputy Darin Riggin located the vehicle near the intersection of Detroit Avenue and Highway 50 East and followed the vehicle until he was joined by Deputy Brett Bindley.
The officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop in the 3000 block of Highway 50 East. Deputies Riggin and Bindley removed Hamrick from the vehicle at gunpoint. He was detained, placed into handcuffs and taken to jail. The warrant, confirmed through the FBI, was for possession and distribution of child pornography issued April 4, 2014 with a no-bail hold out of the Las Vegas FBI Office.
