Carson City man arrested on weapon charge, put on psychiatric evaluation hold

A Carson City man was arrested Wednesday and faces a gross misdemeanor charge of possession a dangerous weapon after he allegedly told his ex-wife that he would shoot it out with the cops and kill or be killed, and would kill himself before he would be captured.

Carson City sheriff's deputies were informed the man may have had a handgun in his possession. He was located at 11:15 a.m. at a fast food restaurant in the 2500 block of North Carson Street. He was detained, placed into handcuffs and searched for weapons. Concealed in the right side of his waistband area was a 4-1/4 inch knife with a wood handle inside a wood sheath, according to the arrest report.

He was taken into custody. While in transport the man made numerous statements in the patrol car saying "please don't let the federal government pick me up, they're going to kill me."

The man was placed on Legal 2000, a 72-hour psychiatric hold and faces a gross misdemeanor charge of possession of a dangerous weapon. Bail: $2,500.

In other arrests:
A Carson City man was booked Wednesday into Carson City Jail on a felony parole and probation hold. Kevin Duain Harward, 50, was booked on a confirmed warrant from Carson City Justice Court issued Jan. 23, 2014. He is being held without bail until there is a hearing.

— A 42-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday in the 100 block of Corbett Street on a misdemeanor charge of violation of a suspended sentence. Officers were called to the address after a battery was reported. Bail; $3,000. Deputies also arrested a 32-year-old man at the residence who had a violation of extended order warrant for his arrest out of Walker River Township. Bail: $3,140.

— A 26-year-old Reno woman was booked Wednesday into Carson City Jail on a violation of condition warrant issued Dec. 11, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
