A Gardnerville man faces felony drug charges after he was stopped Tuesday for a traffic violation at I-580 and College Parkway in Carson City.
Zackery Kluever, age not available, faces charges including possession of controlled substance with intent to sell after officers did an inventory of his vehicle and found 30 MMDA pills in a bottle labeled "Molly," a common street name for the drug, also known as "Ecstasy."
According to the arrest report, officers conducted a traffic stop on a Volkswagen Jetta after it had failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of William and I-580. Kluever was unable to provide a deputy with a current insurance document.
Upon contact, officers observed him to have dilated pupils. When asked about his eyes, the man admitted to smoking marijuana two or three hours earlier, according to the arrest report.
He was asked to perform field sobriety tests in which he showed signs of impairment and was unable to operate a motor vehicle safely, according to the arrest report. He was arrested at 11:14 p.m.
During inventory of the vehicle after he was taken into custody and before it was to be towed, a bottle of 30 pills labeled "Molly" was found. A test of the pills found them presumptively positive for MMDA, the arrest report states. A second bottled, also labeled "Molly" was found empty. Officers also found a water bong with marijuana residue. He was taken to jail, read the implied consent in which he stated he understood and volunteered to give a blood sample.
Kluever faces felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell. He also faces misdemeanor charges of first offense DUI drugs, running a red light, no proof of insurance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $15,578.
