A 28-year-old California man was arrested and faces felony fraud charges after he allegedly passed two phony $100 bills in exchange for a motorcycle for sale on Craigslist.

Deputies were dispatched to the Jack in the Box on South Carson Street on Saturday. The victim told officers that he had placed a motorcycle for sale on Craigslist and was contacted by the suspect who said he would buy the bike for $200.

A meeting took place at the Jack in the Box and the suspect gave the victim the fake bills and the bike was exchanged, according to the arrest report.

The victim discovered the bills looked fake and that they each had matching serial numbers. The victim then called authorities to report fraud.

The suspect was found by officers and admitted to them that he obtained the fake $100 bills earlier Saturday morning from a South Lake Tahoe nightclub. The suspect admitted knowing the bills were fake and that with intent he went ahead and passed the fake $100 bills as real to buy the motorcycle the victim had for sale, according to the arrest report.

The suspect faces felony charges of possessing forged money and uttering fictitious money. His bail was set at $15,000 for each charge.
