A 56-year-old Douglas County man was arrested after he allegedly drew a gun and threatened a manager and chef at Olive Garden in Carson City Sunday night.
David Lane, 56, who lives on Mica Drive in Douglas County and is said to have an extensive criminal background, was arrested by Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies following the incident, reported to Carson City authorities at 8:53 p.m. No one was injured.
According to Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Earl Mays, the man drew the Glock 9mm pistol on the Olive Garden manager and walked into the kitchen area and racked the weapon at the head chef. He walked around the back area of the restaurant for a brief time and then left the scene in a vehicle in which witnesses were able to get the license plate number, said May.
The restaurant is located at 4253 South Carson Street. Several 911 calls were made from inside the restaurant to Carson City dispatch regarding the events as they unfolded.
According to initial reports via Carson City dispatch, the man was seen drawing a gun at employees. Multiple calls to 911 came from restaurant patrons who reported a man with a gun was inside and making threats about the food and service at the restaurant. One 911 call reported that the man appeared intoxicated.
Lane stormed out of the restaurant and got into his vehicle with license plates registered to an address on Mica Drive. Douglas County authorities reported back to Carson City Sheriff's Office that Lane was taken into custody at his Mica Drive home and was injured during the arrest in which he resisted, said Mays. The gun was taken and booked into evidence.
Lane was taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital and after evaluation he will be transported to Carson City Jail, said Mays. He faces felony charges in Carson City of felony burglary and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. In Douglas County he faces charges of resisting arrest with violence and carrying a concealed weapon in which he was not allowed to have.
