A 67-year-old Carson City man in jail as an inmate faces a felony charge of battery after a fight on Tuesday with another inmate.
Billy Darrell Harris was arrested Jan. 7, 3:52 p.m. According to the report, jail officers separated two men, including Harris, from the fight and interviewed them both after reading them their Miranda rights.
A man stated Harris had been arguing with him and using racial slurs at him. When the man asked Harris to stop, Harris challenged him to a fight. The man stated he tried to press the intercom button to alert jail staff and that is when Harris punched him in the face, the arrest report states.
Harris told officers that he had been arguing with the man, that he stood up and challenged him and then punched him in the face, the arrest report states. Bail: $30,000.

— A 32-year-old Mound House man was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 8 and faces three misdemeanor drug charges.
According to the arrest report, an officer conducted a business check at a casino in the 1800 block of North Edmonds Drive. The officer spoke with a man whom he recognized from prior contacts. He asked the man for identification and the man produced an ID.
The officer requested a dispatch check for wants and warrants. Dispatch advised the man had a warrant through Dayton Township Justice Court for possession of marijuana offense. Dispatch contacted the Lyon County Sheriff's Office to confirm the warrant.
The man was told about the warrant and was detained without incident. As the officer was walking with the man to the patrol vehicle the man stated that he did not want to lie and that he had a small amount of marijuana in his jacket, according to the arrest report.
During intake, the officer checked the jacket prior to entering the jail. The officer found a container of marijuana in the jacket, as well as rolling paper that had an odor of marijuana. He faces the misdemeanor warrant charge in Lyon County as well as two misdemeanor charges, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,806.
— A 40-year-old Dayton woman was arrested Jan. 7, 3:07 p.m. at Carson and 10th streets. She faces a charge of misdemeanor contempt of court, failure to appear, in Carson City Justice Court issued Nov. 26, 2013. Bail: $500.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
