Carson City authorities made two felony arrests since Friday including a woman wanted on a violation of a bail condition, and, in a separate case, a man who admitted to using a credit card that didn't belong to him to buy merchandise as trade to fuel his habit.
Authorities on Friday arrested Laurie Ann Hancock, 43, of Carson City who had been on the run from the police after skipping out on a September hearing in Carson City Justice Court. The woman is suspected of stealing money from her former employer and was supposed to be in court on felony charges.
According to the arrest report, Hancock was picked up inside a home in the 400 block of East Long Street after a cab driver dropped her off and where she was seen through an outside window sitting on a living room couch. Arriving to serve the warrant for her arrest, officers knocked on the door and observed Hancock running to the back room. Officers made entry and located the woman in a closet, the report stated.
Hancock had requested that her purse be taken to jail with her, according to the arrest report. In a search of the purse, officers found a plastic bag of methamphetamine.
She faces a felony contempt of court charge, possession of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor warrant for violation of her bail condition.
In another and separate felony case, Mark E. Davis, 24, of Carson City was arrested in the 400 block of Cambridge on Saturday and faces a felony charge of fraudulent use of a credit card.
According to the arrest report, Davis admitted to taking an American Express Gold Card from his mother's boyfriend's wallet without permission. The credit card owner notified authorities of suspicious charges on the card account.
Knowing that Davis had a drug habit and had stolen from the victim before, he was confronted by the victim and his mother, the arrest report stated.
Davis admitted to charging in excess of $100 on two separate occasions and trading the merchandise for drugs. Davis was advised of his Miranda rights and admitted to the offense, according to the arrest report.
