A Carson CIty woman is being held on $40,000 bail after allegedly trying to steal $50 at knife-point from a 16-year-old.
Sommer Wesselman, 33, was arrested at Saliman and Highway 50 on Tuesday at about 10:30 p.m. The unemployed woman faces a felony charge of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon.
According to the arrest report, officers responded to the area of 1515 Highway 50 East in reference to a robbery. Dispatch advised that a 16-year-old victim had been robbed by a female with a knife, and that her description was medium brown hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
An officer responded and observed a woman on the side of the road at Highway 50 and Saliman. The woman appeared to be squatting down near some trees and bushes and matched the description. The officer gave verbal commands to the woman and placed handcuffs on here, while the victim, positively identified as Wesselman, according to the arrest report.
The victim stated the the woman was begging him for 50 cents to make a phone call. The victim reportedly tried to give the woman two quarters that he removed from his pants pocket, in which he also had $50, according to the report. The woman grabbed for the $50 and then pulled out a folded knife from her pocket, opened the blade and pointed it at the victim, according to the report.
The woman then took several steps toward the victim while pointing the knife at him, the victim told officers. The victim said he dropped the quarters and fled to his mom where he called 911, according to the report.
The woman was read her Miranda rights and chose not to speak with the arresting deputy. She also asked for a lawyer.
