Carson City woman jailed for felony domestic battery with strangulation

A Carson City woman was jailed Tuesday and faces a felony charge of domestic battery with strangulation.
Michelle Rene Scott, 45, was arrested at 1:58 p.m. in the 2600 block of East Nye Lane. Her bail has been set at $15,000.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to a casino but were unable to locate the woman who was reported to be driving a green Pontiac Grand Am. Deputies learned of the license plate number which traced back to the Nye Lane address where she was arrested for the alleged crime.

The arrest report states that the woman and the victim were involved in a physical altercation over money problems. The argument escalated to the point where the victim was hit in the face with a stove burner grate. During the interview with the victim, the reporting officer observed what appeared to be red finger marks on the victim's neck, the arrest report states.

The woman did make a statement to officers when she was arrested, stating that she and the victim had been in a physical altercation for the last three days. Officers observed a mark on the right cheek of the woman's face, on her right elbow and scratches along with a bruise on the outside of her elbow. She claims the victim bit her.

In other felony-related arrests:
A 32-year-old Carson City man in custody on unrelated criminal matters, faces warrant charges of felony theft and gross misdemeanor possessing burglary tools.
Brandon Dennis Peart was informed of the charges Tuesday at 11:23 p.m. based on an August 1, 2013 warrant issued out of East Fork Township Justice Court. Bail: $3,500.

— A 62-year-old Carson City man turned himself into Carson City Jail on a felony warrant for his arrest. Larry Gene Singer turned himself into authorities Oct. 8, 2:15 p.m. on the warrant issued Sept. 25, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. The warrant was for possession of a controlled substance. Bail: $2,500.

Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
