A Carson City man was jailed Sunday morning after allegedly trying to hit a woman with his car, and then eluding officers near Russell Way and Northridge.
According to the arrest report, Anthony Todd Martin, 30, was also found in possession of burglary tools, equipment used for syphoning gasoline, drug paraphernalia, a prescription drug that didn't belong to the suspect, and a cache of jewelry that matched the description of items listed as stolen in a string of recent burglaries in the area.
The incident began when a person with Martin allegedly took a cell phone from a woman at a gas station on Highway 50 East. A friend of the women said she stood partially in front of a tan Subaru wagon driven by Martin. According to the report, the victim had to jump out of the way when Martin drove off, grazing her with the car.
The victim followed the vehicle to the 1700 block of Russell Way and reported the incident to dispatch. A deputy on the scene then spotted the car and gave chase. After driving into a dead-end parking lot, Martin jumped from the vehicle and ran away. He was later found and apprehended by deputies.
Martin was arrested for felony battery with a deadly weapon (vehicle), felony possession of drugs without a prescription, gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools, misdemeanor eluding and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Martin also had an outstanding warrant for misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence. His bail was set at $46,327.
