A Carson City man found hiding in an apartment behind a refrigerator was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant charge and the woman he was with faces charges of harboring a fugitive.
Keith Watrous, 39, was arrested Saturday inside an apartment in the 2000 block of West College Parkway. He had a felony warrant for his arrest in connection to a battery with a deadly weapon, and a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence. Bail was set at $13,000 for the fugitive warrant, plus he faces bail of $10,000 in Douglas and a $3,000 in Carson City Justice Court.
Angie Gray, 44, was also arrested Saturday. Her bail was set at $15,000.
A Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy arrived at the apartment to service the warrant after being Watrous had been identified by a witness who knew his whereabouts, according to the arrest report. When the deputy arrived he heard rustling inside the apartment and knocked several times without an answer but could hear individuals inside. Finally Gray answered the door. When the deputy asked if Watrous was there, she said, "several times" that he wasn't.
The officer observed a purse swinging from side-toside on a door that was recently used. Gray said she had been sitting on the couch for the past few hours and that nobody else was inside the apartment, the report stated.
The officer entered the home through the door with the moving purse and found Watrous hiding behind a refrigerator. Gray said she knew Watrous was there and had warrants and didn't want him to go to jail, the report stated.
Dispatched advised Watrous had two confirmed warrants, one for battery with a deadly weapon issued in Douglas County and the other, a suspended sentence issued in Carson City Justice Court. Gray was arrested for allegedly trying to hide Watrous in her home.
