A Carson City man faces misdemeanor battery and obstruction charges after he allegedly pushed his six-year-old nephew, which caused a family fight.

According to the arrest report, an officer arrived at the 2700 block of Menlo Street on Nov. 9 after being dispatched to a fight between a father and son. The officer arrived and identified a 27-year-old man yelling at his father. As the arresting officer approached the younger man, he began to walk away. The officer instructed the man to stop but he continued to walk away, the arrest report stated.

The officer ran up to the man ordered him to stop in which the man complied. The officer asked him what the problem was and the man replied: "There is no problem." The man then turned and walked away, the report stated.

The officer again told him to stop and grabbed the man's arm. The man pulled away breaking the officer's grip, according to the arrest report. The officer attempted to grab him again and then the man's sister grabbed the officer's arm. The officer instructed the woman to step back and she refused. The officer grabbed the man's arm again and the man pulled away, with his sister grabbing on his left arm, and then the father, grabbing onto the officer's right arm.

The officer pushed the father away and told him to stay back. The officer then told the 27-year-old man he was being detained and grabbed his arm again, with the man twisting in an attempted to break away. An unidentified woman then grabbed the officer's shoulders and arms to allow the man to escape, according to the arrest report.

A sergeant arrived as the arresting officer had three people hanging on the officer. The sergeant detained the father after he resisted and the women were warned to stay back.

An investigation of the matter determined that the 27-year-old man was mad at his 6-year-old nephew because the boy bumped him. Officers were told the man pushed the boy and caused him to fall. That's when the man's father began to argue with his son and a fight developed. The women were attempting to break up the fight when police arrived.

The boy was checked for injuries and didn't have any; the sister completed a written statement, the father was released and warned not to interfere and the 27-year-old man was arrested for domestic battery and obstructing.
