A Carson City man faces felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly stealing a Jeep Cherokee and switching license plates.
Scott Michael Tyzbir, 49, faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a hypodermic needle and possessing drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $27,264.
According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched on May 28 to the area of Sherman Lane and Dori Way in Carson City. A woman reported that her red Jeep Cherokee had been stolen and that she found it in the 24000 block of Sherman Lane. The Jeep in the driveway had a license plate that wasn't registered to the owner and the arresting deputy made contact with Tyzbir at the Sherman street address.
When the deputy asked Tyzbir who the Jeep belonged to, he said that it was his mother's Jeep, according to the arrest report. The officer then asked him if he had the registration for the Jeep. Tyzbir came back with a small blue bag from inside the vehicle. The deputy ran the registration, plates and the VIN numbers, which didn't match, according to the arrest report.
Tyzbir was arrested. A Sheriff's Office Set Team arrived at the scene and the vehicle was checked for drugs. Found inside was a hypodermic needle and spoon with drug residue, according to the arrest report. Tyzbir was taken to the Carson City Jail and booked.
