A Carson City man faces multiple charges including child abuse and assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly kicking a two-year-old and threatening the toddler's mom with a knife.

Francisco Arryo, 42, is in jail on $83,564 bail after being arrested on Wednesday at his home in the 1700 block of Brown street.

According to statements by the woman, Arroyo had been fighting with her when he picked up a small pillow in the living room and chucked it into a small metal woven candle holder which then flew off the table and struck the woman's two-year-old son on the left side of his face.

The woman told officers that she grabbed the candle holder and threw it back at an angry and upset Arroyo. He then allegedly picked up the holder and with it still in his hand struck her with the holder on the upper left side of her back near the woman's left shoulder, the report stated.

The strike left an abrasion on the woman's shoulder. The woman told authorities that she then left the living room area with her two-year-old son to take a shower. When the woman returned to the living room area with her son, the man and toddler began playing on a table in the living room with a small toy skateboard when Arroyo became upset and began yelling at the toddler to stop playing, the report stated.

The woman told police Arroyo kicked the child twice in the hip and leg area with the inside of his right foot causing the child to fall to the floor. She stated that she became upset and told the man to stop. Arroyo then grabbed the woman by her upper arms near her shoulders with his hands and physically threw her into a table in the living room area.

The woman struck the table in the living room with her left hip and began to call 911 for help on her cell phone. That's when Arroyo, she said, picked up a steak knife from the kitchen and threatened the woman telling her to "come on, come on" and "what are the cops going to do" according to the arrest report.

The woman closed her cell phone and stopped calling 911. She said her 11-year-old son told his mom they should leave. When the woman and children left the home, she called 911 to report the incident. She said she had pain in the area of her hip but there wasn't a sign of injury and she declined medical assistance, according to the report. The toddler had no observable, visible injuries, the report stated.

Arroyo was taken to jail and photos were taken of the home where the incident took place. Charges include two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery, one count of gross misdemeanor child abuse, a felony count of assault with a deadly woman and a preventing a victim from reporting a crime, also a felony.
