A 38-year-old Carson City man faces a felony sexual assault charge, admitting to investigators that he committed the crime against a 16-year-old girl.
Joaquin Canales-Montes is being held on $100,000 bail. He was arrested Tuesday after agreeing to a voluntary interview by Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators. The crime happened in the 3000 block of Airport Road around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, he told officers after he was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak.
Carson Now is withholding information to protect the victim.
In other arrests:
— A 52-year-old Carson City Walmart clerk faces a felony embezzlement charge. Amy Gladish was arrested Wednesday at the store located in the 3200 block of Market Street.
According to the arrest report, a store manager told officers that Gladish had been short with her cash drawer. The manager stated store officials began watching her on video and checking her cash before and after her shift. Store officials said they had discovered nearly $1,900 missing since May from her cash drawer.
The store manager said officials pulled the woman into an office where she admitted to taking money from the cash drawer. She was placed into custody and taken to jail without incident. Bail: $20,000.
— A 52-year-old Carson City man faces a felony drug charge after being arrested Tuesday, June 11, 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of Cochise and Apprion. Officers arrested Kermit Leed Kincheole on a confirmed warrant issued June 7 out of Carson City Justice Court. The warrant was for possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance with intent to sell. Bail: $10,000.
— A traffic stop Tuesday, June 11 led to the arrest of three individuals, including a 31-year-old man wanted by California authorities for being a fugitive from justice, a felony.
Rex Kevin Warren Jr., was arrested at 4:04 p.m at the intersection of Sherman and Poole. He was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for speed, doing 35 mph in a posted 25 mph.
Warren's behavior at the time of the traffic stop made authorities suspicious. He was asked to identify himself in which he gave officers a false name. Officers learned of his real name after looking through is wallet for identification. Officers found a prison identification card that had a photo of him with his correct name.
Officers learned he had four confirmed outstanding warrants, including for a parole violation — weapons charge, history of violence — issued by the Department of Corrections in California. He has a no bail hold for being a fugitive from justice. The other warrants were issued by Carson City. One was for domestic battery first offense with a bail amount of $3,000; and two warrants out of Dayton Township for contempt of court with a bail amount of $2,500 and contempt of court, bail $500.
The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old Dayton man faces six misdemeanor charges, ranging from failure to appear in court, to a criminal contempt warrant. Bail: $2,406. A 26-year-old Dayton man, also arrested, faces a misdemeanor warrant probation violation charge. Bail: $3,000.
— A Stagecoach man faces multiple misdemeanor charges after turning himself into police Wednesday, June 12. Charges include failure to comply on a warrant, failure to appear on a traffic warrant and failure to pay warrant. Bail: $1,990.
— A 22-year old Carson City woman was arrested in the 2000 block of Carson Street at 9:08 a.m. Tuesday, June 11. She faces a misdemeanor charge of failure to appear traffic warrant. She was stopped for speeding when officers learned of the warrant. Bail: $172.
— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 3000 block of North Carson Street Tuesday at 1:11 p.m. He faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court. Officers stopped the man for not having a front license plate displayed and having a cracked windshield. Officers learned of the warrant during the traffic stop. Bail: $1,000.
— A 54-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, June 11, 7 p.m. in the 2000 block of Empire Ranch Road and faces a misdemeanor charge of being in violation of a restraining order.
— A 51-year-old Carson City woman was arrested at the intersection of Appion and Cochise, June 11, 2:17 p.m. and faces misdemeanor charges of possessing a hypodermic device, driving on a suspended license and failure to yield. Bail: $1,856. A 43-year-old Carson CIty man was also arrested and faces a misdemeanor charge of being in possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $1,137.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
