Carson City sheriff’s deputies make DUI, alcohol-related arrests

A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday in the area of 8th and Curry streets for misdemeanor obstructing an officer and a Department of Alternative Sentencing violation.

The intoxicated man took off running from police after a domestic dispute at a convenience store, according to the arrest report.

Once in handcuffs the man challenged deputies to a fight, calling them “bitches,” according to the arrest report states. He also made multiple comments such as, “it’s just a misdemeanor treatment court violation. I can spend a couple days in jail.”

The man is currently on Department of Alternative Sentencing with multiple conditions. He provided a preliminary alcohol breath test of .191. Bail: $3,300.

— A 49-year-old man was arrested Wednesday, 7:45 p.m. in the area of Saliman and Robinson streets for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.

According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a vehicle swerve drastically numerous times within its lane, then driving over the right white line by more than the width of the tire, nearly hitting the curb. The deputy made a traffic stop.

The man told the deputy he had three beers and agreed to field sobriety tests. He provided a preliminary alcohol breath test of .257 and was arrested. At jail he submitted evidentiary samples of .241 and .232. Bail: $1,137.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man, Jerome Paul Jacinto, was arrested early Thursday morning in the 2200 block of East Long Street for a felony contempt of court warrant issued April 26, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 3:36 a.m. in the area of Long Street and Saliman Road for suspicion of gross misdemeanor second DUI, failure to yield, open container, a DUI warrant out of Lyon County and a failure to appear warrant.

According to the arrest report a deputy was dispatched at 2:55 a.m. to a casino in the 1800 block of North Demands in reference to an intoxicated man who had been asleep on a gaming machine.

When officers arrived casino staff advised the man had left the property in an Isuzu truck. Deputies attempted to locate the vehicle, which was found traveling westbound on William Street and a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle stopped at Long and Saliman streets. The man showed signs of intoxication, the arrest report states.

His name was run through dispatch, which advised he had two outstanding warrants. He was arrested and taken to jail for the warrants. At jail he was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak. He submitted to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on all the tests.

He provided a partial blow preliminary breath test of a .09. The man refused evidentiary testing. He was told that a judge would be contacted to request for a warrant for a blood draw. The warrant was granted and a phlebotomist conducted a blood draw.

The man was booked into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence (second) failure to yield, open container and the misdemeanor warrants. Bail: $5,034.

In other arrests:
— A 49-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday at a Bel Circle resident for a misdemeanor warrant issued Oct. 19, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 19-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested at 11:38 p.m. Tuesday for misdemeanor suspicion of minor consuming alcohol, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, the man was in an argument with his mother and left as a passenger in a vehicle. The vehicle returned because the 19-year-old said he wanted to tell his side of the story. He was wearing board shorts, was barefoot and had cuts and scrapes on his body, the arrest report states.

A deputy could smell an overwhelming odor of alcohol on the man. The deputy asked what happened. The man said he got into a “fight at the lake.” He was asked if his injuries happened during the argument with his mother. The man replied, “no, some fools jumped me at the lake,” the arrest report states.

The officer observed the man swaying as he stood. The officer asked him if he had been drinking for which he replied, “hell yeah, you get drunk at the lake,” the arrest report states.

He was arrested for minor consuming alcohol. At jail he provided an evidentiary breath sample of .195 at 11:38 p.m. Bail: $242.
