A 51-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of embezzlement after a rental car company reported one of its vehicles had been stolen and located via GPS at an apartment building, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Jon Edward Park of Carson City was taken into custody at 7:30 a.m. He was also arrested for a felony warrant out of Las Vegas that alleges theft and fraud. According to the arrest report, deputies were sent to the area of 1600 Airport Road to locate a possible stolen or embezzled vehicle.

A gray colored Ford Focus with California plates was reported by Enterprise Car Rentals as embezzled or stolen to the Henderson, Nev., Police Department on April 20, 2018.

The license plate and VIN were entered into NCIC. Through GPS coordinates the vehicle was tracked to the area of 1600 Airport Road. Deputies located the vehicle parked in a space at a apartment building.

A deputy knocked on the door of the apartment and Park answered. He said he rented the vehicle from Enterprise on April 1 in Las Vegas. He said the company he works for pays for the vehicle on a month to month basis. He showed the deputy the rental agreement on his phone that showed the vehicle was to be returned on April 18.

The man could not show any other documentation or verify the vehicle was being rented on a month to month basis, the arrest report states. He was arrested for suspicion of embezzlement. A computer check showed Park to have a confirmed arrest warrant out of Las Vegas dated March 20, 2017, alleging non-sufficient funds and felony theft. Bail: $28,000.

In other arrests:
— Two Silver Springs residents, Ebony Earwicker and Justin Michael Sinner, were arrested Tuesday, 2:28 a.m. in the area of East Robinson and North Carson streets, each for parole and probation priority 5 warrants. Both were held without bail in lieu of a parole and probation hearing.

— A 37-year-old Carson City woman, Melissa Carter, was arrested Tuesday, 9:36 a.m. in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and gross misdemeanor suspicion of possession of a prescription drug without a prescription. Bail: $5,000.
