Carson City man faces felony assault charge; allegedly smashes beer glass in friend's face

A Carson City man is being held on a felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon after he allegedly smashed a beer glass over the head of a friend during an argument which reportedly caused serious facial injuries.

Christopher Lash, 27, faces the felony charge after the victim reportedly suffered nerve damage to his face from the assault. He is being held on $30,000 bail.

According to the arrest report, Lash and a friend had been drinking at a bar in the 100 block of East Telegraph Street. As officers arrived at about 2:30 this morning, the victim was found covered in blood. The victim said he and Lash had been drinking and had gotten into an argument when Lash struck him with a beer glass.

According to the arrest report, a hospital doctor told the arresting officer that there was a "strong possibility" that a nerve was severed, that the victim may have permanent paralysis on the side of his face, and a special face surgeon was needed to try to repair the injuries.

In other arrests:

— A Carson City man was arrested Thursday and faces felony burglary and possessing stolen property charges.

Ryan Mitchell Sandoval, 20, is being held on $50,000 bail. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to a coin shop at about 4:30 p.m. in the 100 block of West Telegraph in reference to a burglary.

Officers met with the victim who stated two men, one identified as Sandoval, came into the shop. The coin shop owner stated that Sandoval sold four coins of various dollar amounts while the unidentified friend of Sandoval was in the area of some of the jewelry on display on the east side of the shop, the arrest report stated.

The shop owner stated Sandoval conducted his business and both he and his friend left the shop. She stated after they left she observed a sterling silver necklace was missing from the display counter. The shop owner then contacted the owner of a nearby jewelry loan shop, who stated to her that they had just purchased a sterling silver necklace that matched the description of the one missing from the coin shop.

Officers went to the jewelry loan shop and confirmed the sterling silver necklace as the one that had been stolen from the coin shop, the arrest report stated. Officers then drove to Sandoval's last known address, in the 600 block of Jackson Way and made contact with him. He was placed under arrest and taken to jail.

Sandoval told police that he received the sterling silver necklace from a sister's boyfriend "Jason" who asked him to pawn the necklace for him. He stated he pawned the necklace for $35 and gave the money to Jason and later dropping him off at another location.

— A Carson City man was arrested Tuesday night and faces a felony charge of domestic battery with strangulation.

Robert Anthony Carr, 21, a web cam model, was arrested after officers were called to the 1600 block of Airport Road at about 11:15 p.m. The reporting party informed officers that that Carr came over to his home, that he fell to the ground and that he told him that he might of hurt his girlfriend.

The victim told officers that she and Carr had been drinking. She explained that Carr had become intoxicated and he wanted to put a movie in the computer she was using. She told officers that they began to horse play with each other "like they usually do", according to the arrest report.

The victim then told officers that Carr began to get more aggressive with her and he wrapped his arms around her neck and began to choke her. She told officers that she couldn't breath and nearly passed out from Carr choking her with his arms, according to the arrest report.

She told officers this continued for about five minutes on and off. She said that while Carr was choking her, he said it was her fault and he was provoking her to kill him because he was too afraid to do it himself, the arrest report stated.

Bail was set at $5,000.

— Those arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
