Man in custody after robbery on Highway 50 East

UPDATE: The Carson City Sheriff's Office has identified the man arrested for a burglary and chase this morning as Nicholas Stockwell, 22, of Carson City. He faces charges of Class B felony attempted burglary and misdemeanor charges of property damage and resisting a police officer.

A man is in custody this morning after allegedly robbing a shopping center laundermat at 3173 Highway 50 East near the corner of Woodside and Airport Road in Carson City.

The robbery was reported at 10:53 a.m. and the suspect was detained shortly after 11 a.m. after a brief foot pursuit by Carson City Sheriff's deputies over fences and through backyards in the areas of La Loma and Monte Rosa streets. He was captured on Monte Rosa by officers near Empire Elementary.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the Wash Tub business. A box cutter and screw driver were reportedly used in the robbery.

Two from Carson City were arrested Sunday for felony warrants alleging they obtained money by false pretenses, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Arrested were Marline Helen Cameron, 30, and Scott Michael Seymour, 51. They were taken into custody in the 1900 block of North Carson Street after deputies served them warrants. Each are being held on $20,000 bail.

In other arrests:

— A 39-year-old Carson City woman was jailed Sunday for felony suspicion of provide false identification to avoid prosecution, possession of a controlled substance.

April Dawn Carpenter was arrested at 4:23 a.m. in the 3800 block of South Carson Street. She also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear and contempt of court.

According to the arrest report, a deputy recognized a man and woman inside a casino and asked the woman for identification. Carpenter provided the officer with a false name. Dispatch advised there wasn’t a matching name. The woman then told the deputy that she had provided her sister’s identification instead. The officer recognized that he had arrested Carpenter in the past for drug charges.

A warrants check showed Carpenter to have two active, confirmed warrants for her arrest with a bail amount of $11,150. During a search, deputies found a plastic baggie with methamphetamine in the woman’s right coin pocket. Inside a backpack, a deputy found a zipped container with multiple plastic baggies and Q-tips. Bail: $29,787.

— A 25-year-old Carson City man, Tyler Michael Kleine, was booked into Carson City jail on Saturday, 10:30 a.m. for a felony possession of a controlled substance warrant. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A brother and sister were arrested early Sunday after officers were called to a domestic dispute in the 1000 block of Ladera Drive.

Karina Decender, 26, was taken into custody for felony parole and probation violation. Her brother, 23, was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the sister and brother and another woman began to argue as to whether the man was playing too rough with the kids inside the home.

The female inside the home said the brother and sister began to argue and it became physical at one point. A deputy observed a small amount of blood on the carpet while talking to the woman.

The brother stated his sister and the woman got into his face, that he lost his cool, and “probably took it too far,” the arrest report states. He stated he did not punch his sister but stated he pushed her. He took a preliminary breath test with a result of .120.

The officer spoke with the sister and observed a moderate amount of swelling on the left side of her face. She would not state she was hit other than her brother “freaked out.” She refused to say whether he hit her and said if she had to testify she would refuse. She was arrested for parole and probation violation after a breath test resulted in a .141. She is on probation with a no drinking clause. She was held without bail in lieu of a hearing. The 23-year-old’s bail: $3,137.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 5 a.m. in the area of North Carson and East Long streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and improper lane change. According to the arrest report, the driver was stopped for making abrupt turns and lane changes on Carson Street.

The man identified himself with his license, and had a moderate odor of alcohol. The officer asked if he had been consuming alcohol. The man replied he “had a few beers.” He agreed to participate in field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He blew a preliminary breath test of .103. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he chose to submit to a blood sample for the evidentiary test. Bail: $1,224.

— A 27-year-old man was arrested Saturday, 9:45 a.m. in the 2900 block of Mayflower Way on two misdemeanor violation of bail condition warrants. Bail: $6,000.

— A 50-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 1:30 p.m. in the area of Sutra Terrace and Goni Road for a misdemeanor warrant for destruction of property and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license. Bail: $3,622.

— A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 5:37 p.m. in the 900 block of East Long Street for misdemeanor suspicion of battery. According to the arrest report, the woman became verbally and physically abusive with counseling staff at an East Long Street counseling center. Bail: $1,137.

— A Shingletown, Calif., woman was arrested Saturday, 9:05 p.m. in the area of North Carson and East John Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. Bail: $500.

— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 10:30 a.m. on a misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $1,000.

— A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 3:06 p.m. for misdemeanor suspicion of hit and run of an unoccupied vehicle. According to the arrest report, the victim of a vehicle hit and run told deputies the man reversed his truck into the woman’s vehicle in the 500 block of North Stewart Street.

The woman yelled to the driver “hey, you hit my car.” Instead of stopping, the driver took off. She provided a license plate number. A while later the man returned and a deputy interviewed him. When the woman positively identified the man, he became agitated and began to raise his voice and put his hands in the air in an aggressive manner. He was arrested. Bail: $637.

— A 34-year-old Pacific Grove, Calif., man was arrested early Monday, 1:02 a.m. in the 2700 block of South Carson Street for suspicion of violating a protection order. Bail: $3,000.

— A 26-year-old Aurora, Colo., man was booked into Carson City Jail on Sunday, 10:30 a.m. for a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $3,000.

Carson City deputies arrest three for felony heroin trafficking

Three men were arrested Friday evening at a home in the 1000 block of Colorado Street on a variety of drug-related charges.

Deputies came to the home to serve a contempt of court warrant on Craig McDonald, 57, who reportedly lives in the home with his mother, stepfather, brother and his brother's fiancee. Deputies had received tips that the home was the site of frequent drug activity.

When the deputies arrived, they observed through a half-opened garage door McDonald sitting with two other men, Christopher Barrett, 27, of Reno, and Christopher Lloyd Ferrari, 26, of Carson City. After taking McDonald into custody for the warrant, they found 20 points (1/10th of a gram) of heroin in a baggy, 31 points of heroin in a pill bottle, and a baggy with marijuana on the floor where the men were sitting.

A search of the home found 75 hypodermic needles and assorted drug paraphernalia in the home, along with prescription drugs for which McDonald did not have a prescription.

All three men were arrested for felony heroin possession and trafficking, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. McDonald was also arrested for felony heroin possession for sales, gross misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, misdemeanor possession of hypodermic needles, and the misdemeanor contempt warrant.

Bail for the felony charges for all three was set at $20,000 each.

Carson CIty woman faces embezzlement charges against an elderly person

A Carson City woman faces two felony charges after being arrested on a confirmed warrant.
The woman, Leza L. Bulman, was arrested Wednesday at her home in the 200 block of Corbett. She faces a warrant charge of exploiting an elderly person and embezzlement of a person over the age of 60. Both are felonies. Bail was set at $3,000.

In other news:

— A Carson City man faces felony drug trafficking charges after authorities found him in a van smoking marijuana and then admitting to them that he had methamphetamine in the vehicle.
Ryatt Erickson, 38, was arrested Tuesday in the 1500 block of Nevada Street.
According to the arrest report, Erickson was sitting in the driver's seat of a van. When confronted by officers, he admitted to smoking marijuana and told officers he had marijuana and methamphetamine in the van and gave authorities consent to retrieve the suspected drugs, the arrest report states.
Authorities found about five grams of meth and less than one ounce of marijuana, a glass methamphetamine pipe and a marijuana pipe, according to the arrest report.
Erickson faces charges of felony drug trafficking (4 to 14 grams) and felony possession of a controlled substance. He faces disdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $20,000.

— A Carson City man faces a felony drug charge and a gross misdemeanor child endangerment charge after allegedly smoking meth and passing out while an infant was left sleeping in another room.
Larry Lee Mazio, 34, was arrested on Wednesday in the area of 20 College Parkway. His bail was set at $6,864.
According to the arrest report, officers responded to the apartment complex after there was a report of a burglary in progress. Officers made contact with a woman who stated that she left her four-month-old daughter with a male subject for about 40 minutes and that she couldn't get back into her apartment because she forgot her keys. She had tried numerous attempts to get in, knocking, ringing the door bell and calling inside with negative results, according to the police report.
A locksmith was called and the door was unlocked. Officers observed the suspect, slumped over on a couch approximately five feet away from the front door. Deputies called out to Mazio numerous times and had no response. He was shaken and there was no response. On the coffee table officers observed a glass pipe with burnt meth inside and the apartment had a burning odor, according to the arrest report.

Deputies stood Mazio up and placed him in handcuffs. While doing this he began to wake up. Deputies located the baby in the bedroom laying on the bed awake with a bottle next to her. The man admitted to owning the glass pipe, was placed into custody and was put in a patrol car, the arrest report stated.

The man was transported to the jail. While exiting the patrol car an officer noticed a round container near Mazio's feet. He stated that he was surprised it didn't fall out earlier and that it was inside of his shoe. Mazio stated that it was his meth. A subsequent search at jail recovered a bag of marijuana and a small bag of meth, the arrest report stated.

Carson City man arrested for running naked down street, into casino

Apparently, the patrons of the Carson Nugget got to see a little more of Tyler Dean Davies than they wanted to.

On Tuesday evening, Carson City Sheriff's deputies received a report of a man running naked down the street. One deputy spotted Davies, 21, running southbound on North Carson Street near the intersection with Robinson Street. According to the arrest report, Davies ignored orders to stop and instead ran into the northwest doors of the Carson Nugget. Another deputy stopped Davies with a Taser inside the casino near the coffee shop.

Davies was transported to Carson Tahoe Hospital for medical clearance before being taken to jail. He reportedly told deputies that he takes medication but doesn't want to take it anymore because it makes him "feel like a zombie." He said he took off all his clothes because they were bugged, and he ran into the casino to ask someone for a pair of underwear that wasn't bugged.

Davies was arrested for felony indecent exposure, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, misdemeanor obstructing and misdemeanor violation of conditions for alternative sentencing. His bail was set at $11,144.

A 29-year-old Carson City man was booked into Carson City Jail on Tuesday, 8:10 a.m. on a felony warrant alleging failure to stop at the scene of an accident that involved personal injury or death.

Arrested was John Raymond Gelien. The warrant was issued July 8, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. He was released on $50,000 bail. Carson Now contacted the district's attorney's office regarding the case. Go here for the update and criminal complaint.

In other arrests: A Carson City woman was arrested Monday, 4:59 a.m. in the 1700 block of North Carson Street on misdemeanor charges of violation of a suspended sentence, and disorderly conduct. Bail: $1,242.

— A 34-year-old Reno man, Jack Brandon Yates, was booked Sunday, 10:45 a.m. into Carson City Jail on a felony warrant alleging burglary, issued Jan. 20, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $20,000.

— Two men were arrested Sunday, 7:30 p.m. in the area of East William and Rand Street on burglary charges after allegedly stealing candy and chips from the 99 Cent store. A store employee said they saw the men in the candy aisle of the store taking items front the shelf and putting them into their backpacks and jackets. When the employee confronted the men, they ran out of the store. Bail: $2,500 each.

A 24-year-old transient was arrested Monday for two felony warrants and giving an officer a wrong name after he was stopped, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Daniel Mark Redding was arrested at 3:07 p.m. in the area of 8th and Fall streets. The two warrants were for failure to appear and probation violation. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing on those warrants. Bail for the charge of using false identification: $5,000.

In other arrests:

— A 56-year-old Carson City woman, Kimberly Ann Green, was arrested Monday, 6:35 p.m. in the 300 block of West Ninth Street for a felony possession of a controlled substance warrant issued Feb. 10, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $2,500.

— An 18-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, 9:04 p.m. in the area of 20 College Parkway for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the woman allegedly punched her mother in the face.

As officers met with the suspect in the parking lot of the apartment complex, she shouted “mom, I didn’t mean to hit you,” “it was an accident” and “I was in the moment,” according to the arrest report. Bail: $3,137.

— A 47-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 12:11 p.m. in the area of East Nye Lane and Concord for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, the man was in an argument with his daughter over car keys when he allegedly pulled her from a couch and hit her in the upper part of her back. The arresting deputy observed redness to the upper part of her back and left arm. Bail: $3,137.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 10:28 a.m. in the 2400 block of Havenwood Court for misdemeanor battery and drawing a deadly weapon warrants issued Feb. 6, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

Carson City authorities arrest Dayton man tied to Jan. 11 murder and robbery near park

UPDATE: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said Monday the murder investigation of Grant Watkins continues and there could be additional arrests.

"The investigation has well determined that a group of young men set out to rob Watkins of approximately 3 ounces of marijuana, and in the course of the event, Watkins was killed by gunfire along-side a neighborhood park," said Furlong. "In addition to the arrests, Detectives have executed search warrants at four residences and one rural environment, as well as the crime scene area. While the Sheriff’s Office believes that the core of the offenders has already been arrested, other arrests could come later as details of lateral involvement are made clear."

A 20-year-old Dayton man was arrested in connection with the Jan. 11 murder of a Carson City man during a late night drug deal that erupted in gunfire near a subdivision park, a Carson City sheriff’s lieutenant said.

Daniel Lewis Lease was booked into custody Friday on warrant charges of accessory to murder, accessory to robbery and misdemeanor contempt of court. Lease is the seventh person to be arrested in connection to the murder of Grant Watkins, 18, who was fatally shot in the abdomen adjacent to Blackwell's Pond Park in north Carson City.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team deputies served the warrants at his Dayton home on River Road. Lease was found hiding in an attic crawl space and taken into custody at 3:15 p.m. He is being held on $76,000 bail.

Detectives have been working around the clock collecting evidence linking several suspects to the crime that happened over a dispute that involved three ounces of marijuana. Of those arrested, one person, Reed Skenandore, 21, of Carson City is suspected to have pulled the trigger that killed Watkins during the drug deal and robbery. Skenandore was arrested Jan. 12 and charged with first degree murder and murder with robbery.

Two brothers, Jesus Garcia-Manriquez, 18, and Allen Garcia-Manriquez, 19, were arrested a few hours after the Jan. 11 murder and robbery by Carson City SWAT at an apartment complex at Fifth and Harbin streets. They were each charged as being principal accessories in the murder with bail amounts of $250,000 each.

Sheriff’s detectives have arrested several as accessories to the murder, including Keenan Michael Blackmore, 19, of Carson City who was jailed Thursday, Jan. 21, in the 3100 block of Otha Street on felony warrant charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and two counts accessory to a felony. His bail was set at $75,000.

Jonathan Skenandore, 18, was arrested Jan. 15, on felony charges of accessory to murder, accessory to robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Jacob Huttman, was booked into custody Jan. 14 on felony charges of accessory to murder, accessory to robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

The investigation continues to be very active with additional warrants anticipated, said Carson City Sheriff’s Office Lt. Brian Humphrey.

In other arrests: A 19-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday in the 700 block of Sean Drive on suspicion of domestic battery and minor consuming alcohol.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area regarding a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and met with the woman who was intoxicated and speaking loudly. She said she had an argument with her boyfriend, whom they have a baby together.

The victim stated the woman was intoxicated and he was concerned that she was going to drive and called a family member. He said the woman was agitated and began to antagonize the victim and then battering him with a pair of crutches. The male victim was able to escape into an adjacent room and barricaded the door. The man fled the home out of the window with the baby, the arrest report states.

The suspect told officers she didn’t know what happened and passed out. She told the officer she drinks and smokes “hella weed” all the time, the arrest report states. The deputy asked her if she hit the man with crutches. She said she didn’t know. The officer asked about a damaged door. She told the officer she kicked it down trying to get to her child. She was booked at 10:27 p.m. on suspicion of domestic battery first offense and minor consuming alcohol. Bail: $3,379.

— An 18-year-old Stagecoach woman was arrested Saturday, 10:50 p.m. at Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street on a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny. According to the arrest report the woman attempted to take hair dye without paying. She told officers she did not have any money to pay for the items. She came into the store with a friend and selected a package of hair dye and a water bottle. She put the water bottle and hair dye in her purse and left the store without paying for the items. A 17-year-old female with her was turned over to her mother. Bail: $352.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man as arrested Saturday, 5:48 p.m. in the area of State and East William streets for a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, failure to provide proof of competition of community service, to obtain domestic abuse counseling and to attend parenting class. The warrant was issued Dec. 31, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 45-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 7:02 p.m. in the 4100 block of South Carson Street on a misdemeanor warrant, contempt of court, issued Dec. 17, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 2:28 p.m. in the 1400 block of Rand Avenue on misdemeanor warrants, violation of a suspended sentence and a warrant out of Douglas County, East Fork Township Court. Bail: $3,650.

Carson City jailers find drugs taped to man's penis

A Carson City man, who was being booked into jail on a violation of his probation, faces felony drug charges after allegedly having a controlled substance taped to his penis.

Che Daniel Brower, 19, was arrested at the jail on Friday at about 9:45 a.m. Bail was set at $10,000.

The man went into the pre-booking area where a package of Suboxone was found taped to his penis, according to the arrest report. The Schedule 3 narcotic prescription drug is commonly used for people who are detoxing from heroin or opiates.

According to the arrest report, authorities began the routine search of the man's clothing, removing his blue jeans where he was wearing black sport shorts underneath his blue jeans, according to the arrest report. Officers used a metal detector wand to search him in order to prevent contraband and weapons to enter the jail facility.

When a deputy moved the wand in front of Brower's waist and groin area, the metal detector sounded, indicating something metal was present inside that area, the arrest report stated.

Brower's black sport shorts and gray underwear appeared to have no metal on them. Officers asked Brower why the metal detector would trip an alarm. The man stated it was Suboxone, according to the arrest report.

Officers escorted the man to the booking showers to complete a strip search to ensure no metal contraband was in his shorts or underwear. The man removed his black sport shorts, underwear and a package taped to his penis was given to the officer. It was an unopened Suboxone 8mg/2mg packet. The packet of Suboxone has an instruction of prescription only, indicating a prescription is required to possess it. There was no prescription label on the packet, the arrest report stated.

The man faces charges of being in possession of a prescription medication without a prescription.

In other arrests:

— A unemployed Carson City man faces a felony charge of provided false identification after he fled from police following a fight.

Kristopher Lynn Graver, 23, was arrested Saturday, 1:46 a.m. at Spear Street and Minnesota Drive. Bail was set at $10,000.

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of North Carson Street in reference to a fight. A deputy had met with a victim who gave a name with a birthday of Sept. 23, 1991. A check of the subject came back with a name from a man from Oregon, according to the arrest report.

As deputies spoke with the man suspected of hitting Graver, the victim took off running. Officers began to chase the man, with a deputy finding him at Spear and Minnesota streets. An officer drove up to the man who was out of breath. The man began running and officer began a foot chase, according to the arrest report.

Graver reportedly ran around to the back of a building and as the officer rounded the corner with his gun out, the officer saw the man take an aggressive blade stance within a foot of him. The officer used a distraction strike on Graver with the gun and the man received a laceration, according to the arrest report.

Graver fought with officers who tried to cuff him. Later he was asked why he ran and the man confessed that he had a warrant for his arrest and that he gave him his younger brother's name to avoid going to jail on the warrant.

The man was arrested for obstructing with violence and providing false identification to avoid prosecution.

— A Carson City woman faces felony charges of possession of an altered prescription for prescribed drugs and attempting to forge a prescription.

Brandi Lynn Simpson, 32, was arrested at 5:11 Friday, in the 3200 block of Highway 50 East. Bail was set at $10,000. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to CVS Pharmacy on Highway 50 E in reference to a reported fraud.

Upon arrival, officers met with the pharmacist who advised Simpson had turned in a fraudulent prescription and was attempting to obtain a controlled narcotic. The pharmacist advised the woman had been flagged in the state prescription data base for obtaining prescriptions with fraudulent scripts and was again attempting to get 30 pills of Phentermine, according to the arrest report.

The pharmacist advised the particular paper she used was similar to script paper that was reported stolen from a doctor's office and the script was never issued by the doctor, according to the arrest report.

Officers read the woman her Miranda rights and she agreed to speak she. Simpson at first told officers she was a patient of the doctor and received the script. Then she stated she was an employee of a health care company and obtained several blank prescriptions from the doctor's assistants when she was employed there. She then admitted she wrote in her name, the date, and the amount of refills on a blank prescription she located in her house and attempted to retrieve 30 pills of Phentermine.

She was arrested on probable cause for possession an altered prescription and attempting to acquire a controlled substance by fraud.

— A Carson City man was arrested in the 2300 block of Pool way, and faces an extradition for being a fugitive from justice.
Eric Beaman, 23, a landscaper, was arrested at 3 p.m. on Saturday. He is being held without bail.

— A Reno woman was arrested at the Carson City jail on a felony failure to appear theft warrant.
Monica Michelle Uribe, 37, is being held without bail. The warrant was dated Aug. 23, 2010 and was for a charge of theft between $250 to $2,500, a category C felony out of District Court in Carson City.

— A Carson City man face a gross misdemeanor child endangerment charge after he allegedly punched his wife in the arm during a fight in front of his teenage daughter.

Jorge Castro, 37, was arrested at 10:21 Sunday morning in the 4900 block of Highway 50 East and is in jail on $8,764 bail.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to home after a 13-year-old child called 911 stating she watched her father hit her mother.

The victim stated that Castro, who had been out all night and didn't return home until 4 a.m., became angry when he woke at 10 a.m. and had to change diapers. When he returned to bed, he became angry at the victim, yelled and punched her in the arm three times, the arrest report stated.

The 13-year-old heard the yelling went to her parents bedroom and watched as her father punched her mother in the upper left arm three times with his fist. The teen stated she tried to get Castro to stop but he instead pushed her away into the bedroom door, according to the arrest report.

The teen told police she slapped the man on the back to get him to stop and then she and her brother ran across the street and called 911. The victim had light red marks on her upper left arm. The marks were photographed and he was arrested for domestic battery and child endangerment, according to the arrest report.

— A Carson City man was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge on Saturday in the 600 block of Robinson Street at about 12:30 a.m.

The 48 year-old-bartender and his girlfriend had been arguing. The woman stated during the argument the man approached her in an aggressive manner, raised her arms to defend herself and then the man knocked her to the ground and struck her several times in the head and face. The woman had a laceration on her chin and abrasions to her forearm.

The man was cuffed and taken to jail. Officers did not observe any injuries on the man nor did he say he had any.

— A Carson City man faces multiple misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstruction after he was arrested at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of North Carson Street.

The 26-year-old man became belligerent with officers who were called to a bar in reference to a fight. The man, described as "grossly intoxicated" by authorities, became agitated and resistant with officers who asked to speak with him. He was asked for identification. After arguing with officers, he gave them his ID which was run through a data bank in which a failure to appear traffic warrant charge out of Reno was found, the arrest report stated.

Officers asked the man to turn around and place his hands behind his back. He was cuffed and escorted out of the bar and put into the back patio area. The officer explained to the man he had a warrant for his arrest, according to the arrest report.

The man told the arresting officer he was wrong, and that he paid "that mother f****** thing so you can f*** off." The officer told the man there was no need for profanity. The man then reportedly yelled: "I'll f****** say what I want," the report stated.

A crowd gathered outside and the man continued to make a scene using profanity. Officers explained to the man they were contacting Washoe County to make sure the warrant was still valid. The man continued to shout profanities at which point the officer placed him under arrest for disorderly conduct, the report stated.
Officers began to escort him to the patrol car and the man attempted to plant his feet and turn toward the officer. The officer placed his arm through his arm and over his shoulder to force the man to walk toward the car.

When the officer opened the door, the man told him to "f*** off" and to take "your f****** hands off me." The officer told the man if he didn't step into the car he would have to force him in the car. The man again told the officer to "f*** off." The officers pushed the man into the car, the report stated.

Carson City sheriff’s log for Monday: Deputies make DUI and drug arrests

A 31-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, 12:55 a.m. in the area of Joshua and Kennedy streets on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers observed a vehicle pulled over, come to a stop, make a u-turn and then go through a stop sign. The officer made contact with the driver who had three young children in the vehicle, ages 2, 8 and 11, and explained the reason for the traffic stop. The woman told the officer she was having some issues with the children but that everything was OK.

She stated she was going home to a Marian Street address. As the woman was speaking, the officer could smell an odor of alcohol from her breath. The woman admitted to consuming a pint of vodka recently, the arrest report states.

She submitted to field sobriety testing, and did not satisfactorily complete the testing. She submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .12. She was placed into custody. She was charged with DUI alcohol, a misdemeanor, child endangerment, a gross misdemeanor, and probation violation from Alternative Sentencing. Bail: $6,637.

— A 36-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, 12:10 a.m. in the 3700 block of North Carson Street on a misdemeanor charge, probation violation. According to the arrest report, officers observed the woman, who is on probation, leaving a convenience store and walked to her vehicle. The woman had a strong odor of alcohol on her. She was asked if she had been drinking and the woman replied she had not. Dispatch advised she was on Alternative Sentencing with a “no alcohol” clause. She provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .132. She was booked for the probation violation without incident. Bail: $3,000.

— A 41-year-old Carson City woman, Myra Lynn Robertson, was arrested Sunday, 9:13 a.m. on a felony charge of giving an officer false identification to avoid prosecution, and two misdemeanor warrants: violation of a suspended sentence, and contempt of court. Bail: $8,500.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man, Jac Owen, was booked Sunday, 3 p.m. into Carson City Jail on a felony warrant, issued Oct. 10, 2014, alleging attempted burglary and a misdemeanor warrant for contempt of court, issued Oct. 29, 2014. The warrants were issued out of Carson City Justice Court. He is being held without bail on the felony warrant charge. Bail for the contempt of court charge, $500.

— Two were arrested Sunday in the 1800 block of Fairview Drive after a single vehicle accident that happened on Fairview near Fifth Street. According to the arrest report, officers met with a 32-year-old Carson City man and 29-year-old Reno woman. The man told officers that he was driving the vehicle when a rabbit came across the road causing him to swerve. He stated he left the roadway and went into a field of sagebrush. Officers observed the vehicle’s airbags had been deployed but without physical damage to the vehicle.

According to the arrest report, the man was unsteady on his feet and was not making sense when speaking with officers. He showed signs of impairment on several field sobriety tests and was unable to stand without leaning. The man had green residue on his tongue, a sign of marijuana use. He was given a preliminary breath test with results of .000, the arrest report states.

Because the man was unable to perform the standardized sobriety tests and being unsteady on his feet, he was taken into custody and a blood test was administered. Bail: $1,137.
A records check showed the woman had a confirmed warrant for her arrest. She was placed into custody and taken to Carson City Jail. While transporting, officers observed the odor of marijuana on the woman.

The officers asked her if she had any marijuana on her, which she denied, the arrest report states. Once at jail an officer opened the rear door allowing the woman to exit. The officer observed a greenish case on the floor board that appeared to be broken into two pieces.

The officer retrieved it and learned the two pieces were in fact the top and bottom of a rubberized case. Inside the case was a gelatin type form of hashish. The substance had a strong odor of marijuana emitting from it. The woman told the officer the case was not hers. The officer told her the case was not in the car prior to her getting in. The woman then admitted to discarding the case, hoping not to get caught with it, the arrest report states. She faces charges based on the contempt of court warrant and possession of marijuana. Bail: $1,167.

— A 39-year-old transient woman was arrested Sunday, 9:34 a.m. in the area of Sedge and South Deer Run Road on suspicion of second offense domestic battery. According to the arrest report, officers were called to the location and made contact with a man who advised that he and his girlfriend had been in an argument regarding sleeping inside a truck, in which he was trying to get his girlfriend to do, instead of sleeping outside. During the argument, the woman allegedly burned him with a cigarette near his eye. Officers observed a burn mark near the man’s right eye consistent with that of a cigarette.
Officers spoke with the woman who said the man grabbed onto her arm and was trying to get her into the truck. She told officers that she used the cigarette to burn his face. Bail: $5,132.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Sunday, 11:53 a.m. on a warrant charge, criminal contempt, issued August 15, 2012 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 29-year-old Reno man was booked into jail Sunday, 11:50 a.m. on a warrant, contempt of court, issued June 10, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $855.

A 32-year-old woman and Carson City Jail inmate faces a felony battery charge after a fight inside the detention center on Saturday morning, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Latisia Allana Gonzales was arrested Saturday, 7 a.m. for felony suspicion of battery by a prisoner. According to the arrest report, a deputy assigned to booking heard yelling coming from a cell. The officer observed two females fighting each other with both women swinging and hitting each other with fists. Deputies broke up the fight, separated the women and began to investigate.

Video camera footage of the incident showed the victim was standing at a cell door with her back facing Gonzales who was around six feet away. The suspect then stood up, ran toward the victim, pulling the back of her hair, taking her to the ground. Both inmates began punching each other on the ground. After reviewing the video, Gonzales was arrested for battery by a prisoner. Bail: $20,000.

In other arrests:
— A 34-year-old Carson City man, Juan Sanchez-Martinez, was arrested Saturday, 5:09 a.m. in the 100 block of East Telegraph Street for felony suspicion of a third DUI and misdemeanor open container.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City sheriff’s sergeant observed a vehicle backing into the street and then parking in front of a bar, repeating the action. The officer made contact with the man driving the vehicle who smelled of a strong odor of alcohol. Inside the car was an open Corona beer.

The man agreed to do field sobriety tests and failed the tests. He blew a preliminary breath test of .198. He was taken into custody for DUI. Dispatch stated the man had a DUI 2011 DUI conviction in Lyon County and a second conviction in 2013 in Sparks. He was charged with third DUI. Bail: $20,192.

— A 32-yer-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday for felony suspicion of domestic battery after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and was in a standoff with officers for more than two hours.

Mark Samaniego was arrested after Carson City SWAT members breached the door of the home located in the 4200 block of Pheasant Drive.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched at 11:45 p.m. to the home in reference to a domestic battery. When officers approached the residence they could hear Samaniego yelling “f*** this” and “I’ll f**king shoot everyone” from inside the garage of the residence.

Deputies then observed the man enter the house from the garage door into the house, the garage door and into the kitchen pulling out what appeared to be handgun from the cabinet. He reached into the cabinet and grabbed another item and it sounded as if someone was loading a magazine into a firearm. He was ordered to exit the residence and refused. He said he would not leave and for deputies to go away.

Another deputy met with the victim who was bleeding from the mouth, had chipped teeth and lacerations on her face. She told the deputy that the man punched her in the face several times with a closed fist. She said that when she called 911, the man told her that the cops would get some too, the arrest report states.

At around 1:30 a.m. SWAT breached the door with a flash bang device after securing a telephonic search warrant. Samaniego exited the residence without further incident. He was arrested for battery causing substantial bodily harm. He is being held in Carson City jail. Bail: $15,000.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 5:01 a.m. in the area of East Proctor and North Stewart streets for misdemeanor suspicion of obstructing an officer. According to the arrest report, deputies were in the area assisting with a DUI investigation.
The woman was asked to leave the scene due to her being argumentative and disruptive. She was instructed multiple times to leave the scene or she would be placed under arrest for obstruction.

She left and then returned and began yelling to her boyfriend stating “if you go down, I’m going down,” the arrest report states. She was again instructed to leave. She told the officer “no, I’m going down too,” according to the report. She refused to stop yelling to her boyfriend and was arrested. Bail: $412.

— A 50-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 9:39 p.m. in the area of Carson and Musser streets for a misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $1,000.

— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 3:28 p.m. for three counts suspicion of gross misdemeanor child endangerment and six misdemeanor charges: two counts failing to stop at stop signs, DUI drugs, driving on a suspended driver’s license, speeding, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report, a Carson City sheriff’s sergeant observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Division and Spear. The deputy followed the vehicle, pacing it at 36 mph in a 25 mph zone. The deputy attempted to make a traffic stops with the man failing to stop at stop signs on two streets, speeding up, slowing down and driving erratically.

The man pulled over, slamming his brakes at 10th and Curry. The sergeant approached the driver who apologized and said that his music was too loud. The officer told him of his moving violations. The man said he did not have a driver’s license. When he was asked for his registration and insurance, the man pulled out a stack of receipts and handed them to the officer, the arrest report states

The sergeant observed a Dr. Pepper can in the glove box, and asked the man if he could look at it. It was a pipe can with burnt marijuana residue. Inside the vehicle were three children, ages 12, 8 and 6. The officer asked the man if he had recently smoked marijuana and the man said he had taken a couple hits less than an hour prior. A deputy arrived on scene to conduct a DUI investigation. The man was unable to complete standardized field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was arrested. The registered owner of the vehicle arrived on scene to pick up her kids and gave officers consent to search the vehicle. Inside was a plastic bag of marijuana in the center console. Bail: $6,352.

— A 32-year-old Carson City woman, Alexis Victoria Hill, was arrested Friday, 4:44 p.m. in the area of Stewart and Long streets for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and two counts possession of paraphernalia. Officers found a 10th of a gram of a controlled substance, a “tooter” straw, commonly used to inhale narcotics and a small glass pipe with a bulb on the end. Bail: $4,774.

— A 32-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 7;10 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street for misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny and a misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant issued out of Reno Township. The woman was stopped by store security after attempting to steal $36.50 in merchandise from the store. Deputies confirmed the warrant. Bail: $1,352.

— A 25-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 2:06 p.m. in the 1000 block of Elm Street for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued Nov. 29, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $840.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 8:38 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Edmonds Drive for misdemeanor warrants for violation of an extended protection order and contempt of court. Bail: $8,000.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 12:44 a.m. in the 2000 block of Rapids Court for three misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued July 12, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $6,500.

Woman driving without a license jailed after giving cops fake name

A 21-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday following a traffic stop near the intersection of College Parkway and Sherman. Carin Elizabeth Bohannan faces a felony charge of using false identification to avoid prosecution and a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff's patrol deputy conducted a traffic stop at 10:29 p.m. because of a non-functioning tail light.

The deputy met with the driver who stated she had recently lost her license and din't have it in her possession. Bohannan provided a name and a date of birth, saying she also goes by the name Jesslynn. When the officer asked her how she spelled her name, she spelled it out as Jesslyn with one "n."

The officer asked if it was just one "n" at the end of her name. She then replied there were two "n's" at the end of her name, the arrest report states. Seeing there was a discrepancy, the officer asked Bohannan if she was being honest about her name.

The officer also informed her that it is a crime to misrepresent her identity. The woman said she understood and assured the officer that her name was the name she gave. The officer looked up the woman's name in the computer system as she stated and it returned back as not having appeared to be the subject who was stopped, the arrest report states.

The officer returned to his car. Another deputy arrived on the scene and spoke with the woman. She told the deputy she had lied about her name and gave him the correct name of Carin Bohannan. Dispatch advised the woman did not have a driver's license.

She was read the Miranda warning where she agreed to speak with the arresting officer. She said she gave him another person's identity because she knew she didn't have a driver's license and didn't want to get a ticket or her vehicle towed, according to the arrest report. She faces the felony charge of using false identification and misdemeanor driving without a license. Bail: $5,192.

In other arrests:

— A 23-year-old Carson City man, Paul Thomas Walker Lastiri, faces a felony drug charge after being arrested Sunday, 9:25 a.m., near East Telegraph Street and North Carson Meadows.

According to the arrest report, a deputy observed two men walking north along Carson Meadows while doing routine patrol. The two men were carrying Walmart palstic bags that contained large boxes, swinging them as if they were empty.

The officer conducted a consensual stop with both men at the corner of Telegraph Street and North Carson Meadows. Both men agreed to talk with the officer, who asked them to place the bags on the ground as they spoke.

The men said the boxes contained lamps and they were walking to Walmart to exchange them. While speaking to the men one of the boxes moved in a gust of a wind, suggesting the box was empty. Knowing that a common practice among thieves is to go inside Walmart with empty bags, fill them up with merchandise, then exit without paying, the officer then asked if he could search the men for weapons, drugs and drug paraphernalia, the arrest report states.

The first man provided consent and was cleared. Lastiri was facing the officer and began to step away and turn his head side-to-side as if he were looking for an exit to run. The officer instructed the man not to move and he stated he didn't want to be harassed by the cops, the arrest report states.

The officer approached him again and he stepped away, making the officer feel uneasy so he grabbed the man's right arm, which the man quickly pulled away from the officer.

The officer then detained Lastiri, placing his wrists into handcuffs. He then conducted a pat down of Lastiri for weapons and retrieved a glass smoking pipe and a small plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine. He was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637.

In misdemeanor-related arrests:
— A 42-year-old Carson City woman was arrested at 6:05 a.m. in the 400 block of Lee Street. She faces a misdemeanor warrant charge of contempt of court, failure to appear, issued May 8, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office arrests: Woman jailed on suspicion of third domestic battery

A 33-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday on felony suspicion of third offense domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Estelle Ramona Wungnema was taken into custody at 1:05 p.m. According to the arrest report, the woman allegedly hit and pulled the hair of a female victim. The suspect had convictions of domestic battery in 2011 and 2014. Bail: $15,137.

— A 65-year-old Gardnerville man, Jimmie Lee Reimann, was arrested Friday, 9:10 p.m. in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway on suspicion of felony parole and probation violation. He refused to submit to drug tests as part of his probation. At jail he admitted to using methamphetamine. He was placed on a no bail hold in lieu of a hearing.

— A 42-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 1:43 a.m. in the area of 8th and Fall Street on a gross misdemeanor suspicion of possession of a dangerous weapon, and misdemeanor obstructing an officer and biking on the wrong side of the road.

According to the arrest report, the man was stopped by a sheriff’s deputy for riding on the wrong side of the road and for not having front or real lights as required for bike riding during night hours.

The rider was asked multiple times to stop and the man did not stop. He repeatedly kept saying to the officer following him: “why are you stopping me?” and “I did nothing wrong,” the arrest report states. After continually instructing him multiple times, the man finally complied and stopped in the area of 8th and Fall streets. Located in the man’s backpack was a pair of brass knuckles. Bail: $2,999.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 5:20 a.m. in the area of South Edmonds and Lompa Lane on misdemeanor DUI, wanton reckless driving, 120 mph in a 65, and violation of bail conditions.

According to the arrest report a deputy was patrolling the area of I-580 and the Fifth Street bridge when he observed a Subaru pass him at a high rate of speed. Radar confirmed the vehicle speed at 124 mph in a posted 65 mph.

The officer drove southbound to overtake the vehicle and made a traffic stop on South Edmonds and Lompa. He met with the driver and noticed an odor of alcohol on his breath. He was asked to submit to field sobriety tests in which the driver failed all tests, according to the arrest report. He was arrested on the charges and submitted an evidentiary blood draw at jail. Bail: $2,274.

— A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 12:37 p.m. in the area of West Fifth and South Curry Street for gross misdemeanor suspicion of child endangerment, and the following misdemeanors: DUI drugs, failure to maintain a lane, suspended registration and no proof of insurance.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area for a report of a vehicle that struck a tree. Witnesses provided information about the vehicle and the officer located it going eastbound on west Fifth Street approaching Curry. The officer observed damage on the front and right corner of the vehicle. The officer spoke with the woman and observed her speech was quick and she appeared to be confused. The officer observed a small female child seating in the right rear seat.

The officer asked what happened and she said she hit the tree to avoid a truck that had been tailgating her. The woman appeared confused and the officer asked for her license. The officer asked if she had consumed any alcohol or drugs. She said she had not been drinking and said she had taken anxiety prescription medication earlier. The officer asked for her vehicle insurance and registration. She said she did not have current vehicle insurance.

As the deputy was speaking with the woman, a male arrived at the scene and said he observed the woman hitting a pickup about 20 minutes earlier. The officer asked the woman to perform field sobriety tests and she agreed and did not satisfactorily complete the tests. Dispatched advised the woman had a suspended registration. She was arrested. Bail: $4,738.

— A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 3:52 p.m. in the area of North Stewart and east Robinson Street on misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery second offense and misdemeanor suspicion of violation of a suspended sentence. According to the arrest report, the suspect allegedly assaulted his estranged girlfriend in the restroom at a grocery store. The suspect admitted to drinking, a violation of his probation. Bail: $6,000.

— A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 3:52 p.m. in the area of Robinson and Stewart streets on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Sept. 16, 2015 out of East Fork Township. Bail: $750.

— A 47-year-old Dayton man was arrested Friday, 5:02 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Carson Street on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued June 14, 2016 out of East Fork Township Court. Bail: $500.

— A 52-year-old transient was arrested Friday, 5:41 p.m. in the 1200 block of East Roland Street on a temporary restraining order violation, a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy reported. Per the arrest report, deputies responded to a call from the suspect’s father who reported his son was on scene and in violation of an existing TPO, which was confirmed by dispatch.
The father reported he received a call from his son, felt sorry for him, and went to pick him up and brought him back to the house. The suspect became angry about the TPO and his father called 911.
Deputies arrested the suspect at the father’s residence and transported him to the Carson City Jail where he was booked on $1,000 bail.

— A 61-year-old Stagecoach woman was arrested Friday on misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession offenses.
The woman was arrested at 5:38 p.m. in the 3200 block of Retail Drive during a traffic stop on a crosswalk violation, the report said. During the stop, the deputy observed the woman exhibiting behaviors suspicious of DUI, and she demonstrated signs of impairment on several tests.

The deputy’s K-9 officer was employed to sniff for substances, and the woman admitted to having marijuana in the cab of her vehicle. In addition to marijuana, law enforcement also recovered a pipe with burnt residue. The woman was taken into custody and booked into the Carson City Jail on $1,000 bail.

— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 7:39 p.m. in the 2000 block of William Street on three misdemeanor failure to appear traffic warrants. Bail: $2,995.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 7:55 p.m. in the 2000 block of East William Street on misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs and possession of marijuana offenses. According to the arrest report, the deputy and his K-9 partner arrived at a traffic stop to assist another officer who had pulled over a vehicle on a traffic stop.

The K9 officer searched the vehicle and discovered a bud of marijuana located in the center console of the vehicle. A field sobriety test was administered to the driver, who showed sign of impairment. The driver was then placed into custody and transported to the Carson City Jail where he was booked on $1,000 bail.

— A 25-year-old Reno man was booked into jail Friday, 9 p.m. on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued March 11, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $740.

— A 60-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night, 11:24 p.m. in the area of I-580 northbound and the 500 block of Arrowhead Drive on a driving under the influence of alcohol offense. The arrest report states the driver of a silver car pulled in front of a deputy’s patrol vehicle, causing the officer to brake suddenly to avoid striking the car.

The deputy turned his patrol vehicle around to follow the car. The officer caught up with the car in the northbound lanes of I-580 and Highway 50, at which time he observed the car being unable to maintain its lane.

A traffic stop was made and signs of DUI impairment were observed. A field sobriety test was also positive for impairment. The preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol content of .113 percent. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Carson City Jail on $1,000 bail.

Carson City Sherrif's deputies arrested Terry Alan Nicholson, 53, at approximately noon yesterday. Nicholson was arrested for a failure to appear warrant in his name and a felony probation violation.

Officers also arrested the following individuals on misdemeanor allegations:

  • A 43-year-old Carson City woman for not possessing a valid drivers' license, DUI, and failure to maintain a lane.
  • A 27-year-old Carson City woman for a contempt of court warrant in her name.
  • A 33-year-old Carson City man for a failure to appear traffic warrant in his name.
  • A 22-year-old Reno man for a contempt of court warrant in his name.
  • A 41-year-old Carson City woman for a failure to appear traffic warrant in her name.
  • A 30-year-old Carson City woman for violation of a suspended sentence.
  • A 53-year-old Carson City man for a failure to appear traffic warrant in his name and probation violation.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Carson City man held in Sparks motel shooting

Sparks police say a Carson City man is the suspect in a bizarre incident where at least 100 rounds from three different weapons were shot from the second floor of Motel 6 early Thursday morning. No one was injured but several vehicles were damaged.

Luis Alberto Machado, 34, was arrested following the incident at the south side of the Victorian Avenue motel, after police fired a single shot that missed but forced him to surrender. He faces charges of obstructing with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon on police officer, trafficking controlled substance and felony property damage.

According to Sparks Police spokesman Brian Miller, several officers arrived within minutes and located Machado firing rounds from a rifle into the parking lot of the motel. The officers made verbal contact with but but he refused to follow verbal commands and continued firing multiple rounds from inside and outside the room.

At least five vehicles in the parking lot were damaged by Machado’s gunfire, said Miller. This continued for approximately 15 minutes. He then allegedly fired a volley of shots while exiting the room and pointed a rifle at officers who were on the second floor landing.

A Sparks Police officer fired one round at Machado who retreated back inside the room. The officer's round lodged in the door frame where the man had been standing. Machado exited within seconds and surrendered. He was not hit or injured by the officer’s gunfire. No citizens or officers were injured during the incident, said Miller.

The I-80 freeway was closed due to the threat posed by Machado firing in that direction.

Investigators determined Machado fired approximately 100 rounds from three different weapons: an AR15 style 223 caliber rifle, a 40 caliber handgun and 45 caliber hand gun. Investigators also found a trafficking amount of controlled substances in the room.


Carson City man arrested for viewing child porn on WNC library computer

William Kelly Jones, 54, was arrested Friday evening after employees at Western Nevada College reported that they saw the suspect viewing what looked like child pornography on one of the library's public access computers, Carson City authorities report.

According to the arrest report, two employees witnessed Jones, a registered sex offender, viewing images of nude young girls on the computer. When confronted, Jones closed the viewing windows containing the images and left the library. A computer technician at the library took screen shots of the computer's browsing history, and confirmed they were viewed under Jones' patron number. A forensic investigator at the Sheriff's Office found the web pages Jones was viewing to contain images of pre-pubescent girls engaged in sexual acts.

Deputies arrested Jones at his residence on Woodside Drive in Carson City for felony possession of the child pornography, and felony use of Internet to control visual presentation depicting sexual conduct of person under 16 years old. His bail was set at $50,000.

Carson City deputies diffuse tense overnight situation at Mayflower Way residence

Carson City sheriff’s deputies were called to a Mayflower Way home late Thursday after a domestic disturbance call involving an intoxicated man who allegedly threw a bread maker at his girlfriend and kicked a roommate’s cat.
What made matters tense was the reporting witnesses told dispatch and officers that the man had guns in the home and they were concerned he would use them.

The incident began at 10:48 p.m. and ended after midnight when officers were able to get the two roommates out of the home. Deputies essentially defused the situation by not escalating a response, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

“Once we determined there was not an external threat, and the females were out of the home, we made a calculated risk and chose for him to sleep it off,” said Furlong.

In other police matters:
— A 45-year-old Carson City man and jail inmate faces a misdemeanor charge of damaging jail property after he allegedly tampered with a booking camera at the Carson City Jail. According to the arrest report, the man climbed on a door at the jail and removed the camera from the ceiling. He then hid the camera behind his back. The camera was recovered. Bail: $2,500.

Carson City deputies busy with handful of weekend felony arrests

A Zephyr Cove man was arrested Sunday and faces a felony charge of third offense driving under the influence after being stopped by Carson City sheriff's patrol officers.

Christopher James Thompson, 33, was arrested in the 2500 block of South Carson Street at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20. Thompson was stopped for failure to maintain a single lane of traffic, the arrest report states.

The man told officers he had been at a birthday party and had been drinking. He was asked how many drinks he had consumed and he stated he was unsure. He agreed to participate in field sobriety tests, showing impairment in two of the tests, the arrest report states.

He was taken into custody and was read the Nevada Implied Consent. The man chose to take a blood test. Thompson's criminal history showed he had two DUI arrests since Aug. 2007. The criminal history did not show a disposition on the arrests, the report states. However, Thompson informed the arresting officer he had been convicted of both DUIs in the past 7 years. Bail: $20,000.

In other felony-related arrests:
— Two 21-year-old transients were arrested Oct. 18, 7:21 p.m. near Long Street and Russell Way. Shawn Robert Anderson, faces felony charges of probation violation, possession of a controlled substance and a forgery warrant out of Lyon County.
John Treavor Pate faces a felony charge of being in possession of a controlled substance.

According to the arrest report, officers patrolling the area noticed two men walking around a closed hardware store in the dark. Officers pulled up to the men who then began walking quickly toward Long Street. The men crossed the street about a half a block west of the intersection with Russell and both failed to use a nearby crosswalk.

The arresting officer activated his emergency lights and both men attempted to evade the officer. He then activated his air horn and both men stopped, colliding into each other when attempting to figure out which way to turn, the arrest report states.

The men were ordered to sit down on the curb, and both were acting nervous, physically moving their body and being talkative. They were detained and searched for weapons. The men provided their identifies, where it was learned that Anderson had felony warrants.

Later, Anderson said that he had placed a small amount of methamphetamine into the wallet of Pate. Officers recovered the drugs. Anderson was being held without bail for the felony warrants. Pate faces a charge of being in possession of a controlled substance and violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $3,500.

— A 27-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested Oct. 18, 10:29 p.m. in the 1400 block of Como Street. He faces a felony charge of being in possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanor charges.

According to the arrest report Carson City patrol officers observed a car driving southbound on Saliman Road just south of Como Street. The vehicle made an abrupt U-turn without signaling. The vehicle was stopped after it turned onto Como Street. Officers made contact with the driver who identified himself as Martin Ruiz.

A computer check showed that the vehicle's registration had expired in September and Ruiz had a confirmed warrant issued out of East Fork Township Justice Court. He was arrested based on the warrant. While doing inventory of the vehicle officers located a glass pipe with marijuana residue in it, as well as a small black metal container with methamphetamine. Charges include felony possession of drugs, and misdemeanor charges of possession of paraphernalia, expired registration, improper U-turn, and failure to appear. Bail: $4,206.

— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Oct. 18, 5:11 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Edmonds. Mary Jean Bohannan faces a felony charge of possessing an controlled substance and misdemeanor contempt of court.

According to the arrest report, a porter gave security at a local casino a brown cloth zip up bag they had found. A female in the casino had been seen with the purse-like bag. Security opened it and found a broken drug pipe and called the sheriff's office.

Security showed officers the bag that contained broken glass and baggies with methamphetamine wrapped in tissue. With officers at the scene, security took the purse to the woman, who said it was hers, grabbed the bag and then walked toward the south exit.

An officer stopped the woman and she was detained. The woman asked why she was being arrested. She was advised it was because of what was found in the bag. She then said that the bag was not hers, that it belong to another woman who was at the casino but had left, and that she took it from security because she thought there was money in it, the arrest report states.

She faces the felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and warrant contempt of court, failure to appear. Bail: $3,500.

— A Mound House man was arrested Oct. 18, 9:37 p.m. He faces a gross misdemeanor charge of assault on a police officer, and misdemeanor charges of assault of a victim, 60 years or older, breach of peace and obstructing a police officer with violence.

Officers were called to a bar in the 100 block of East Long Street. The man was standing at the bar yelling at the bartender who was scared and upset and pleading with the man to leave the bar. Earlier he had picked up a large snow globe and raised it above his chest as if he was going to throw it.

An officer walked up to the man and said that he needed to speak with him. The man ignored the officer and raised his arms toward the 66-year-old bartender. The officer identified himself and told the man to step away from the counter at which the man said to the bartender pointing to the officer: "You better get him to leave. I'm going to kill him," the arrest report states.

The man then took a step toward the officer and attempted to kick him, missing. The officer stepped back and pointed a taser at the man. He was told to turn around and get on his knees. The man replied no. The man was told he would be tased if he did not comply. The man stepped toward the officer in an aggressive manner. He was tased and taken into custody. Bail: $6,544.

Douglas authorities arrest man on sexual assault charges on a child; man admits to the crimes in interview

A 21-year-old Gardnerville man faces multiple felony charges including sexual assault and lewdness with a minor, Douglas County authorities said.

Juan Daniel Martir was arrested on Wednesday. He admitted to the crimes in an interview with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Martir was arrested after it was discovered he had exposed himself to a 13 year-old girl at her residence, authorities said. The incident was discovered by an adult caretaker whom the girl resides with. The caretaker discovered Martir, a friend of the family, exposing himself to the girl inside the Ruhenstroth home near Gardnerville.

 
Subsequent investigation into the incident provided evidence that Martir had earlier engaged in sexual activity with the girl, Douglas authorities said. During interview with Martir, he admitted to engaging in full sexual acts with the girl. Evidence collected at the scene substantiated the admission, authorities said. The 13 year-old victim stated the sexual activity was forced on her by Martir, authorities said.
 
Martir is currently in custody in the Douglas County Jail. His bail is set at $202,500.

Carson City man faces felony charge in domestic battery

A Carson City man was jailed early Tuesday morning following a domestic battery in which he allegedly prevented the victim from reporting the crime.

Amalio Pedro Montanes, 25, was arrested in the 3300 block of Pontius Place at 1:26 a.m. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the residence on a welfare check after dispatch received a call from a woman who gave an address and then disconnected.

Upon arrival officers met with the victim who stated she was upset with her boyfriend, identified a Montanes. The victim said he had come home drunk and wanted him to leave.

Officers met with Montanes and asked him to step outside to speak. The man stated he and his girlfriend had been arguing. He stated he had been drinking alcohol so he did not want to drive and leave the home. Officers asked the man if they had become physically violent with each other. The man initially told the officer that he had not but then admitted that he had grabbed the woman's face and squeezed, according to the arrest report.

Deputies spoke with the victim who said that she attempted to call 911 and that Montanes took the phone from her hand, disconnected it, then grabbed her by the throat and pushed her down. Officers asked the man if he had taken the phone away from the woman and Montanes replied: "Yes I did, is that a problem?"

He was taken to jail without incident. He faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery and a felony charge of preventing a victim from reporting a crime. Bail $8,137.

— A 29-year-old Carson City woman was arrested July 29 and faces a felony charge of being in violation of probation. Lindsie Newman, was arrested at Walmart on Market Street for shoplifting. She allegedly took items off the shelf and went to the customer service counter where she returned them and got cash back.

Newman is on probation with Nevada Parole and Probation. Officers contacted her probation officer who instructed Carson City authorities to place her into custody. Bail: $320 for the petit larceny charge and a no bail hold for probation violation.

— A 22-year-old Carson City woman was booked into the Carson City Jail on July 29, 4:05 p.m. on a warrant, failure to report for monthly probation check in. Bail $3,000.

— A 52-year-old Carson City woman was arrested July 27 and faces a charge of DUI. She was arrested at 1:15 a.m. at Airport and Carmine. She was stopped for failure to maintain a lane. Bail: $1,137.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 300 block of Carson Street on July 27 at 1:43 a.m. He faces a charge of disorderly conduct. The man was kicked out of a bar and returned. Bail: $242.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 27, 3:27 a.m. at Table Rock Drive and New Ridge Drive. He faces a misdemeanor charge of criminal contempt. The arrest came after a vehicle stop in which the driver didn't stop at the stop sign. The man had a warrant for his arrest, failure to appear. Bail $250.

— A 51-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 26, 7:32 p.m. at the intersection of Brown and Reeves. The man was arrested on a warrant, failure to provide proof of counseling. Bail: $500.

— A 36-year-old Carson City man was booked into Carson City jail on July 26, 11:45 a.m. on a suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $3,000.

— A 41-year-old transient was arrested in the 3700 block of Emerson Drive, July 27, 10:22 p.m. He faces a charge of disorderly conduct. The man had said he was bitten by a rattlesnake. However it appeared to authorities that the man was under the influence of drugs and there wasn't a bite wound. The man began yelling and cursing at police officers. He was asked to stop because he was scaring his neighbors.
Authorities later observed the man attempting to sleep on a sidewalk and turn on water from a faucet where he took a drink from it. He was taken to jail for disorderly conduct. Bail: $237.

— A Carson City woman was arrested July 27 in the 2000 block of College Parkway. She faces misdemeanor charges of falsely reporting a crime and being in violation of her probation. Bail: $4,637.

— A 38-year-old Reno man was arrested July 28, 7:39 p.m. and faces charges of driving on a suspended registration, no proof of insurance and criminal contempt (warrant.) He was stopped on the Carson City freeway after his plates came back suspended. Bail: $1,849.

— A 52-year-old transient was arrested July 26, 8:29 a.m. at Highway 50 and Deer Run Road. Michael Gene Klein faces a felony charge of being a fugitive from justice, and misdemeanor charges of driving while using a cell phone, not having a valid driver's license, no proof of insurance and expired plates. Bail: $1,113 for the misdemeanor, and a no-bail hold for the felony charge.

— A 33-year-old Carson City woman faces a gross misdemeanor charge of being in possession of a dangerous weapon. She was arrested July 26, 1:43 a.m. in the 100 block of West Nye Lane. The woman was found on Nevada Highway Patrol property with a gas can, a syphon hose and a pair of metal knuckles. She told officers she had intended to syphon gas because she didn't have gas money. The woman said she had the brass knuckles for protection. Bail: $2,500.

— A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested July 26, 1:51 a.m. at North Lompa Lane and Highway 50 East. She faces a charge of being in violation of a suspended sentence. Bail. $3,000.

— A 32-year-old transient was arrested July 25, 6:13 p.m. at Highway 50 East and Fairview. He faces misdemeanor charges of failure to pay fines and failure to appear in court. He was stopped initially for failure to use turn signals. Bail: $1,249.

— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 25, 7:52 p.m. in the 200 block of Fleishman Way. He faces a charge of being in violation of an extended protection order.

Those arrested and facing charge are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
